Samsung’s next premium smartwatch may arrive with a major battery advantage. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is rumoured to carry an 800mAh battery, compared with 390mAh and 445mAh capacities reported for the two Galaxy Watch9 sizes.
The claimed gap would make the Ultra model the clear capacity leader within the upcoming range. Battery life estimates and charging times have not been detailed, so the practical endurance difference remains unknown.
| Model | Display | Peak brightness | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch9 40mm | 1.34-inch AMOLED | Up to 3,000 nits | 390mAh |
| Galaxy Watch9 44mm | 1.47-inch AMOLED | Up to 3,000 nits | 445mAh |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 | 1.52-inch AMOLED | Up to 5,000 nits | 800mAh |
The Ultra 2 is also expected to have the brightest display of the group, with a 1.52-inch AMOLED panel rated at up to 5,000 nits. Both Galaxy Watch9 versions are said to reach up to 3,000 nits, with 1.34-inch and 1.47-inch panels for the 40mm and 44mm models respectively.
According to information reported by GSMArena, all three watches will support fast WPC wireless charging. The report does not specify how long they will take to charge or how long they may last between charges.
Storage, Protection and Sensors
The rumoured hardware list gives the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 64GB of internal storage, double the 32GB capacity said to be available on the Galaxy Watch9. Both product lines are also expected to use the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset with 2GB of RAM.
Sapphire crystal protection is listed for the displays across the range. The reported resistance ratings, however, suggest a more rugged positioning for the Ultra model.
Galaxy Watch9 is said to have IP68 protection and 5ATM water resistance. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is reportedly rated IP69K and 10ATM+, giving it higher stated protection figures.
Samsung’s BioActive sensor is expected to support health and activity tracking on both lines. The leaked feature list also includes a temperature sensor, barometer and geomagnetic sensor.
LTE Choices and Leaked Prices
The watches are expected to launch with One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7. Listed connectivity features include LTE, Bluetooth 6.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS.
The Galaxy Watch9 may be offered in Bluetooth and LTE versions in both case sizes. The Ultra 2 is reportedly planned only as an LTE model.
| Model | Connectivity | Leaked price |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch9 40mm | Bluetooth | €409 |
| Galaxy Watch9 40mm | LTE | €459 |
| Galaxy Watch9 44mm | Bluetooth | €439 |
| Galaxy Watch9 44mm | LTE | €489 |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 | LTE | €749 |
The leaked pricing places the 40mm Galaxy Watch9 at €409 for Bluetooth and €459 for LTE. The 44mm version is listed at €439 for Bluetooth and €489 for LTE.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is said to cost €749 in its sole LTE configuration. Samsung is expected to unveil the watches alongside its next foldable generation at Galaxy Unpacked in London, though specifications, availability and regional pricing remain unconfirmed.
