Xiaomi is set to launch two new flagship smartphones under its Poco brand by the end of 2025: the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra. These models are global variants based on the Redmi K90 series, which has already been released in China.
The Poco versions come with adjustments tailored to global markets, including smaller battery capacities and simplified variant options. This approach aims to balance a thinner, lighter design while maintaining solid battery life and performance.
Key Specifications of Poco F8 Ultra and F8 Pro
The Poco F8 Ultra is derived from the Redmi K90 Pro Max platform but features a 6,500 mAh battery, reduced from the 7,100 mAh in the Chinese version. Poco explained this change helps deliver a slimmer and lighter body without significantly compromising battery endurance.
Memory configurations for the F8 Ultra will include:
- 12 GB RAM with 256 GB storage
- 16 GB RAM with 512 GB storage
Unlike the China market model, the global variant will not offer 1 TB storage options and will come in only two colors: Black and Denim Blue.
Meanwhile, the Poco F8 Pro resembles the Redmi K90 with a more efficient design and is available only in a 12 GB RAM variant with either 256 GB or 512 GB storage. The previously available 8 GB RAM option is discontinued.
Both phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the latest flagship processor promising improved power efficiency and premium-level gaming graphics. Qualcomm aims to position this chipset to deliver top-tier performance for demanding applications and games.
The Poco F8 series will sport AMOLED QHD+ displays with a high refresh rate and HDR10+ support. For audio, Poco has partnered with Bose to enhance its multimedia experience compared to previous generations.
Certification and Market Launch
Ahead of the global rollout, the Poco F8 Pro has appeared in multiple certification databases. It was registered in the United Arab Emirates’ TDRA with model number 2510DPC44G and has secured approval in Singapore and Thailand.
These certifications suggest that Poco is nearing the final stages before an international launch. Xiaomi has not revealed official pricing yet. However, market analysts predict the starting prices to be around $465 for the Poco F8 Pro and approximately $560 for the Poco F8 Ultra, depending on the memory variant.
Market Positioning and Strategy
The debut of the Poco F8 series aligns with Xiaomi’s strategy to strengthen Poco’s foothold in the highly competitive “flagship killer” segment. The combination of advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite performance, slimmer design, and competitive pricing is expected to attract tech-savvy users looking for high-end features without flagship price tags.
By tailoring battery capacity and variant availability specifically for international markets, Poco hopes to address user preferences in Asia Southeast and other regions, balancing device weight and usability.
Overall, the Poco F8 Pro and F8 Ultra represent Xiaomi’s push to bring cutting-edge flagship technology to a broader audience. Both models are anticipated to generate interest among premium smartphone buyers who prioritize power, design, and price efficiency.
