Upcoming Launch of Xpeng G7 EREV Promises an Impressive 1,700 Km Range on a Single Charge

Xpeng, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is preparing to launch the Xpeng G7 EREV in early 2026. This new SUV is impressive, boasting a remarkable one-charge driving range of up to 1,704 kilometers (about 1,058 miles), a figure that stands out in its class.

The G7 EREV exemplifies Xpeng’s ambition to expand its footprint in the electric and hybrid vehicle markets amid fierce competition in China’s automotive industry. The vehicle combines modern styling with cutting-edge technology that prioritizes both efficiency and user comfort.

Extended Range Electric Vehicle Technology

At the core of the G7 EREV’s appeal is its extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) system. It uses a hybrid setup combining an electric motor and a gasoline engine as a range extender. In pure electric mode, the SUV can cover approximately 430 kilometers (267 miles) based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). When the gasoline engine assists the battery, the total driving range surges to 1,704 kilometers (1,058 miles). This capability removes the anxiety of running out of power during long-distance travel across cities or provinces.

Advanced Charging and Battery Technology

Xpeng equips the G7 EREV with an 800V electric platform and a 5C fast-charging battery system. This allows the vehicle to gain 314 kilometers (195 miles) of range after just 12 minutes of charging, significantly reducing downtime on long trips. The battery itself uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry delivering 55.8 kWh capacity, known for stability and durability. Additionally, a 60-liter gasoline tank supports the extended-driving capability, balancing between electric efficiency and fuel range.

Performance and Efficiency Balance

Powertrain specs include a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 110 kW (148 hp) that acts as the range extender. This works alongside an electric motor producing 218 kW (292 hp), delivering responsive acceleration and energy-efficient operation. The vehicle’s weight sits between 2,245 and 2,255 kilograms, which is reasonable for a midsize SUV carrying dual power sources.

Design and Dimensions

The G7 EREV resembles the BEV variant closely, with futuristic “X Face” styling prominent at the front. Hidden door handles, black side mirrors, and privacy glass on rear windows contribute to a sleek and premium exterior. Its dimensions — 4,918 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,655 mm tall with a 2,890 mm wheelbase — ensure spacious interiors for passengers and cargo. At the rear, C-shaped LED taillights stretch across the width, branded with the “Xpeng” logo and a “Poser X” badge identifying the EREV variant.

Market Position and Outlook

Currently, the G7 BEV models sell between 195,800 and 225,800 yuan ($27,500 to $31,700), offering electric ranges of 602 km to 702 km (374–436 miles) per CLTC. The G7 EREV’s extreme range advantage addresses consumer concerns around charging infrastructure and long-distance driving convenience. Xpeng plans to strengthen its electric vehicle lineup aggressively by launching three EREV models including the G7 in the first quarter of 2026, with another four EREV and EV models expected later the same year.

This strategic push underscores Xpeng’s determination to become a leader in the global electric vehicle market. If the claimed range and performance are realized in real-world conditions, the G7 EREV could redefine expectations for extended-range electric SUVs and influence competition worldwide.
