Lenovo has officially announced the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist at CES 2026, marking a significant step from concept to commercial product. This laptop features a unique motorized hinge mechanism that allows its 14-inch OLED touchscreen to rotate and tilt automatically according to the user’s perspective.
The screen’s ability to switch seamlessly between horizontal, vertical, and tablet modes without manual adjustment is controlled via voice commands or usage scenarios. Lenovo highlights this adaptive display as a way to enhance user productivity, although the real-world effectiveness will largely depend on software maturity.
The laptop’s panel boasts a sharp 2.8K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth and vibrant visuals ideal for both work and entertainment. Lenovo aims to offer a more versatile computing experience than conventional laptops with fixed displays.

It supports up to 32GB DDR5-9600 RAM and offers PCIe Gen 4 storage up to 2TB. A sizable 75Wh battery fuels the device, balancing power demands of the mechanical hinge while keeping the total weight at a portable 1.4 kilograms.
Connectivity options reflect a practical mindset rather than experimental excess. The laptop comes equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a headphone jack, and supports Wi-Fi 7 alongside Bluetooth 5.4. Compared to its predecessor, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 with its rollable screen, the Gen 7 Auto Twist adopts a more grounded design philosophy. It retains an innovative edge while focusing on real-world usability, making it more suitable for everyday professional workflows.
Lenovo plans to launch the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist in the United States in June 2026. The starting price will be approximately $1,649. Whether the automated rotating screen will prove to be a genuine productivity booster or merely a smart gimmick remains to be seen once it hits the market.
