HP has unveiled a refreshed lineup of gaming laptops at CES 2026, targeting distinct gamer segments with clear performance strategies. The new offerings include the HyperX OMEN MAX 16, OMEN 16, and Victus 15, each catering to different needs and budgets in the gaming community.
HyperX OMEN MAX 16: Powerhouse for Hardcore Users
The HyperX OMEN MAX 16 is HP’s most powerful gaming laptop to date. It supports a platform power of up to 300W, a notable 20% increase from its predecessor. The laptop is configurable with Intel Core Ultra 200HX-series or AMD Ryzen AI HX processors, paired with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU. This combination makes it an ideal choice for intensive gaming and demanding creative workloads.
To maintain optimal performance, HP revamped the cooling system through OMEN Tempest Cooling Pro. This system includes a third fan and a Fan Cleaner feature that periodically reverses airflow to reduce dust buildup. The laptop offers a 16-inch OLED WQXGA display with a 240Hz refresh rate, HDR support up to 500 nits brightness, and full DCI-P3 coverage. Users can also opt for an IPS panel for different visual needs. In addition, its keyboard features a high polling rate and customizable lighting, while OMEN AI automatically optimizes system and game settings to boost frame rates without manual adjustments.
OMEN 16: Balanced Performance for Serious Gamers
Positioned as a middle ground between extreme performance and affordability, the OMEN 16 offers both power and efficiency. It supports AMD Ryzen AI 9, AI 7, and AI 5 processors with up to 50 NPU TOPS performance. Intel Core Ultra H-series and 14th Generation HX processors, including the Core i9-14900HX, are also available. For graphics, it runs up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, with NVIDIA G-SYNC or AMD FreeSync depending on the chosen platform.
The OMEN 16’s 16-inch display options include IPS WQXGA panels with a 240Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and full sRGB coverage. Memory can reach up to 32GB DDR5, paired with PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD storage up to 1TB. Additional features include HyperX-tuned audio, a full HD 1080p webcam, HDMI 2.1, USB-C with DisplayPort support, and batteries up to 83Wh with fast charging capable of reaching 50% in about 30 minutes. The laptop is designed to balance high performance with energy efficiency and mobility.
Victus 15: Affordable Entry Point with Solid Specs
Victus 15 maintains its position as the budget-friendly gaming option in HP’s portfolio. It supports AMD Ryzen 8000-series and Intel Core 13th Gen processors, paired with GPUs ranging from NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 to RTX 4060, and AMD Radeon RX 6550M. The laptop features a 15.6-inch IPS Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate, dual-channel memory support, PCIe Gen4 SSD storage, and DTS:X Ultra audio.
Battery capacity varies between 52.5Wh and 70Wh depending on the configuration. This model appeals to gamers seeking reliable performance without the premium features found in higher-tier options.
Availability and Pricing
HP plans to release the OMEN MAX 16 in the coming months via HP.com, starting at $1,699.99. The OMEN 16 will become available in March at a starting price of $1,599.99. The newest Victus 15 models will launch as early as January, beginning at $1,199.99. A higher-tier Victus 15 version is expected in May, although its price has not yet been announced.
These updates reflect HP’s strategic approach in 2026: delivering extreme performance through the OMEN MAX 16, balanced power and mobility via OMEN 16, and accessible gaming through the Victus 15. Enhanced AI capabilities, advanced cooling, and improved displays support each model’s tailored experience.
