Poco is reportedly preparing a new smartphone called the Poco X8 Pro Max, which has recently appeared in the Geekbench benchmark database. This appearance confirms that the device will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, one of the latest high-end processors from MediaTek.

The listing on Geekbench suggests that the Poco X8 Pro Max is currently undergoing internal testing ahead of its global launch. On March 6, 2026, both the global and Indian variants were documented with model numbers 2602BPC18G and 2602BPC18I, respectively.

Geekbench Performance Scores

The benchmark scores provide an early glimpse of the device’s processing power. The global variant scored 2,659 points on the single-core test and 8,369 points on the multi-core test using Geekbench 6.5 standards. Meanwhile, the Indian model achieved slightly different scores, recording 2,616 points in single-core and 8,401 points in multi-core tests. These numbers indicate strong performance for a mid-to-high-range smartphone.

Details on the Dimensity 9500s Chipset

The MediaTek Dimensity 9500s is a trimmed-down version of the flagship Dimensity 9500, unveiled in October 2025. According to the Geekbench listing, it features an octa-core CPU with a clock speed arrangement as follows:

  1. One prime core running at 3.73 GHz
  2. Three performance cores running at 3.30 GHz
  3. Four efficiency cores running at 2.40 GHz

For graphics processing, the chipset is paired with the Mali-G925 Immortalis MC11 GPU. The main Dimensity 9500 can reach up to 4.21 GHz on its prime core, making the 9500s a more power-efficient alternative that still delivers solid performance. This optimization makes the Dimensity 9500s suitable for competitively priced devices without compromising too much on speed.

Poco X8 Pro Max Specifications and Features

Additional Geekbench data revealed that the Poco X8 Pro Max will run on Android 16 and come equipped with 12GB of RAM. This configuration supports multitasking and demanding applications, including gaming and AI-driven tasks integrated with the latest mobile operating system.

Rumors trace the Poco X8 Pro lineup to include two main variants: the standard Poco X8 Pro and the Poco X8 Pro Max. The standard model is expected to use the Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, while the Pro Max will feature the more advanced Dimensity 9500s, distinguishing them by performance tier.

Both variants are likely to sport OLED displays with a resolution resembling 1.5K and a 120Hz refresh rate. Industry sources suggest the Pro Max will have a larger screen size around 6.83 inches, compared to 6.59 inches on the regular Pro. This design aims to provide smooth visual performance for daily use and gaming enthusiasts alike.

In terms of photography, the Poco X8 Pro Max is believed to house a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera. These features align with current trends in mid-range smartphones that offer excellent camera capabilities at affordable prices.

The memory and storage options for the series reportedly include up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a maximum of 512GB UFS 4.1 internal storage. This combination offers fast data transfers and quick app loading times, ensuring responsiveness and efficiency for power users.

Strategic Positioning in the Market

Poco traditionally emphasizes high-performance specifications at competitive prices with its X series. This approach has helped the brand secure popularity in various global markets including Asia and Europe. The Poco X8 Pro Max, with its cutting-edge processor and advanced features, continues this strategy by targeting users who want premium specs without flagship price tags.

Currently, the Poco X8 Pro Max appears to be in the final stages of testing before its official unveiling. Industry insiders expect a global release slated for March 2026, though Poco has yet to announce an official launch date.

If released soon, the Poco X8 Pro Max will become one of the first smartphones to implement the Dimensity 9500s chipset. This move also reflects MediaTek’s efforts to broaden the reach of its Dimensity 9 series chips into the premium mid-range market segment worldwide.

This latest generation of the Poco X8 Pro lineup is therefore significant, promising strong processing power, elegant design, and competitive pricing. It may set new standards for mid-range flagship smartphones in 2026 and beyond.
