Apple is reportedly preparing a larger supply of vapour chamber cooling plates for future premium iPhones. The reported increase is linked to the company’s first foldable iPhone and its rumoured 20th Anniversary models.
The cooling focus could be significant because new designs and high-performance workloads can place greater thermal demands on a smartphone. Apple has not confirmed the existence, specifications, or release timing of either product.
Fixed Focus Digital, posting on Weibo, said Apple had significantly raised its orders for vapour chamber plates. The translated post suggested the components could be intended for the foldable iPhone and the iPhone 20th Anniversary lineup.
A Larger Foldable Production Estimate
A separate report has suggested Apple could raise production of its first foldable iPhone to around 10 million units. That estimate exceeds earlier expectations of roughly seven to eight million units.
The figure does not confirm a final production target, as supply-chain projections can change with manufacturing readiness. There is also no confirmed information on when production of the device may begin.
| Rumoured Device | Cooling Focus | Reported Supporting Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Apple foldable iPhone | Advanced vapour chamber | Production could reach around 10 million units |
| iPhone 20th Anniversary | Vapour chamber | Rumoured in two display sizes |
A foldable device has a different internal layout from a conventional smartphone. That makes heat distribution and component placement potentially important considerations for the design.
No details have been disclosed about the chipset, body materials, or cooling arrangement Apple may use in the foldable model. Its final form factor also remains unknown.
Apple Already Uses Vapour Chamber Cooling
Apple previously introduced vapour chamber cooling with the iPhone 17 Pro series. The system was designed to move heat away from the A19 Pro chipset and spread it through the aluminium chassis.
That existing implementation provides context for reports that similar technology could reach later premium devices. Better heat management may help a device sustain thermal dissipation during demanding work.
Gadgets360 reported that Fixed Focus Digital had previously connected Apple’s foldable iPhone with a more advanced vapour chamber system. The latest claim about increased cooling-plate orders is viewed as consistent with that earlier report.
Anniversary Models Could Also Change the Design
The iPhone 20th Anniversary devices are rumoured to arrive in two models with display sizes similar to the expected iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both versions have previously been linked to vapour chamber cooling.
Other reports point to a glass exterior and a nearly bezel-free display for the anniversary devices. Fixed Focus Digital had also said Apple intended to return to a glass-based design for this project.
Manufacturing facilities associated with the project are said to have been upgraded. Still, Apple has not confirmed the official name, final design, or which devices will ultimately form the anniversary lineup.
The reported component orders may indicate that Apple is considering internal engineering changes alongside visual redesigns. Until Apple makes an announcement, the foldable iPhone, its cooling system, and the anniversary models remain unconfirmed.
