Police also recovered a bladed weapon believed to be connected to the incident. The bayonet was about 30 centimeters long and had sharp edges on both sides.

It was found lodged in the bed of a river near the scene. Police suspect it slipped from the suspect’s hand during the stabbing and became embedded underwater.

Officers searched the water using snorkeling equipment and a metal detector before locating the weapon. The discovery added physical evidence to the continuing investigation.
