Asus is returning to India’s tablet market with a device built around a large, high-refresh-rate OLED screen. The Asus Pad is scheduled to launch on August 6, marking the company’s first tablet release in the country after years of absence.
The 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED panel is the central feature of the device. It offers a 2.8K resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 144Hz refresh rate for entertainment, reading, document work, and creative tasks.
Its screen-to-body ratio reaches 92%, giving the tablet a broad viewing area within a slim chassis. The display also reaches up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Asus states that the panel carries certifications for low flicker and reduced blue-light emission. These features add to the device’s focus on extended viewing rather than only short-form entertainment use.
Core hardware and storage
The Asus Pad runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It uses Android 16 and offers internal UFS 3.1 storage configurations of up to 256GB.
According to Gizmochina, the tablet will be offered in 128GB and 256GB variants. It also includes a microSD card slot that supports expansion up to 1TB for users who keep large document or media libraries.

Accessories and external display support
Asus Pad supports the Asus Pen 2.0 and a compatible Bluetooth keyboard. The accessory support is intended to make the tablet suitable for note-taking, sketching, and document editing.
The USB Type-C port supports DisplayPort 1.4, allowing the tablet to connect to an external display. Asus also includes GlideX for file sharing across Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices.
Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The tablet does not support a SIM card, so mobile internet access will depend on Wi-Fi networks or tethering from another device.
Battery, audio, and design
The tablet carries a 9,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. Charging from zero to 50% is stated to take about 30 minutes.
For audio, Asus uses a four-speaker system with Dolby Atmos 360-degree cinematic sound. The configuration is designed to provide a more immersive experience for films, games, and music without additional audio accessories.
A 13MP rear camera is paired with a 5MP front camera that also supports Face Unlock. The front camera is positioned for video calls and basic device authentication.
Asus Pad measures 271.1 x 182.4 x 6.5 mm and weighs 523 grams. It comes with a folio case that works as both protection and a stand with four viewing-angle modes.
The tablet will be available in Pure White and sold through Flipkart in India. Asus has not announced its Indian price, leaving its market positioning to be determined at launch.
