Motorola Edge 70 Pro Set for April 22 Launch, 6.8-Inch 144Hz OLED and 6,500mAh Battery Lead the Leak

Motorola is preparing to bring the Edge 70 Pro to India on 22 April, and the device is already drawing attention for a specification sheet that looks unusually complete. The phone will be sold through Flipkart, Motorola’s official website, and offline retail channels.

The early details point to a model positioned firmly in the premium segment. Motorola appears to be combining strong performance, a high-refresh-rate display, a large battery, and advanced camera hardware in a single package.

Performance built around Dimensity 8500 Extreme

At the center of the Edge 70 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset. Motorola pairs it with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which should help with multitasking and heavier workloads.

The phone also includes a 4,600 mm² vapor cooling chamber. That cooling system is designed to keep temperatures under control during gaming sessions or other demanding tasks that can push the hardware for extended periods.

Display focused on brightness and smooth motion

The screen is one of the most notable parts of the device. Motorola has equipped the Edge 70 Pro with a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel that offers 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

Motorola says the display can reach a peak brightness of 5,200 nits. In practical use, that level of brightness should help the screen remain visible in strong daylight, while also supporting smoother viewing for video and gaming.

Triple 50MP rear setup and a 50MP selfie camera

Camera hardware also looks well developed. The rear system uses three 50MP sensors, led by a Sony Lytia 710 main camera with OIS for added stabilization.

Alongside it are a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP front camera. Motorola has also added a multispectral sensor, which is claimed to improve color accuracy and image detail.

Battery capacity and charging speed

Power delivery is handled by a 6,500mAh battery. That capacity should give the phone a strong endurance advantage for users who rely on their device throughout the day for work, entertainment, and mobility.

When it is time to recharge, the Edge 70 Pro supports 90W fast charging. The combination of a large battery and faster wired charging makes the device more practical for users who need quick top-ups before heading out again.

Software, durability, and audio support

Out of the box, the phone runs Android 16. Motorola is also promising 3 years of operating system updates and 5 years of security patches.

The Edge 70 Pro includes several durability features as well. Its front panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, and the device carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for resistance against water and dust. For audio, it supports Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos, which should appeal to users looking for a more refined multimedia experience.

Color options and market position

Motorola will offer the Edge 70 Pro in three Pantone-branded colors: Lily White, Tea, and Titan. The lineup gives the phone a premium look while still keeping the design understated.

Taken together, the Dimensity 8500 Extreme chip, 144Hz AMOLED display, triple 50MP cameras, 6,500mAh battery, and IP68/IP69 protection make the Edge 70 Pro one of Motorola’s most closely watched launches ahead of its 22 April debut.
