A new Xiaomi 17 Max leak has put the device back in the spotlight, mainly because it is said to combine several features that usually do not appear together in one flagship package. The rumoured mix includes a 200MP camera, an 8,000mAh battery, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, placing the phone in the conversation for premium models with very strong hardware.
If the leaked information proves accurate, the Xiaomi 17 Max would arrive as the final member of the Xiaomi 17 family. The lineup is already said to include the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and 17 Ultra, while the Max variant appears to be aimed at users who prefer a larger display, long battery life, and a more complete feature set.
A larger screen for everyday viewing
One of the first details to stand out is the display itself. The Xiaomi 17 Max is reportedly fitted with a 6.9-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, a combination that usually helps deliver smoother scrolling, gaming, and app switching.
That screen size also suggests a stronger focus on media consumption and general comfort during daily use. The leaked description points to a panel character that differs from the standard model, reinforcing the idea that Xiaomi is targeting users who want a broader viewing experience.
Flagship hardware with generous memory options
Performance is another major part of the leak. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is mentioned as the chip powering the Xiaomi 17 Max, which places the device firmly in flagship territory.
Memory and storage figures also look aggressive. The leak points to LPDDR5x RAM of up to 16GB and UFS 4.1 storage of up to 1TB, suggesting that the phone is being prepared for heavy multitasking and large data needs.
Battery capacity becomes the headline feature
The most talked-about element may be the 8,000mAh battery. For a premium smartphone, that capacity is unusually large and clearly positions endurance as one of the model’s main selling points.
Charging support is also said to be fast, with 100W wired charging and up to 50W wireless charging. Combined, those figures indicate a device intended not only to last longer, but also to return to use quickly when power runs low.
200MP main camera and a complete rear system
The camera setup is another area drawing attention. The Xiaomi 17 Max is said to feature a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, a detail that signals a strong focus on high-resolution photography.
The rest of the rear system is reportedly built around a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.95-inch sensor. That arrangement puts the phone close to the imaging ambitions of more premium models, although the leak suggests it may not include a secondary rear display like the Pro Max variant.
On the front, the selfie camera is said to use a 50MP sensor. If accurate, the configuration shows that Xiaomi is still giving attention to front-facing photos and video calls, not only the main rear setup.
Other details that complete the package
Beyond the headline hardware, the leak also mentions an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. The software side is said to run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, indicating a relatively recent operating system foundation.
Additional reported features include an X-axis vibration motor and symmetrical 1115 stereo speakers. Those elements would typically improve haptic feedback and audio quality, especially on a large-screen phone intended for gaming and multimedia use.
Current reports point to a China launch in May 2026. Global availability has not been confirmed, so the Xiaomi 17 Max remains in rumor territory for now, with all of its most striking specifications still waiting for official confirmation from Xiaomi.
