Huawei Pura 90 Series Debuts In China, 200 MP Telephoto And 6,500 mAh Battery Lead The Flagship Push

Huawei’s latest flagship push in China centers on a simple message: photography, battery life, and industrial design now sit at the heart of the Pura 90 line. The series arrives with three models—Huawei Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and Pura 90 Pro Max—each aimed at a different type of user while sharing the same overall premium direction.

The strongest attention naturally goes to the camera system. Huawei has made imaging the main selling point across the lineup, pairing large sensors with AI-based processing and distinct camera combinations that separate the base model from the Pro versions.

Three Models, Three Different Priorities

The standard Huawei Pura 90 starts with a rear setup built around a 50 MP main camera, a 12.5 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50 MP periscope camera. On the front, it also carries a 50 MP selfie camera, which keeps it competitive for users who place value on high-resolution front and rear shooting.

Huawei positions the Pura 90 Pro as the middle option in the family. It uses a 50 MP main camera, a 12.5 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50 MP telephoto camera, while the front camera drops to 13 MP.

At the top of the range, the Pura 90 Pro Max takes a more aggressive route. Its rear system combines a 50 MP main camera, a 40 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 200 MP telephoto camera, alongside a 13 MP front camera.

XMAGE and Red Maple Color Technology

Huawei also includes XMAGE imaging and Red Maple color technology in the series. These systems are intended to improve color accuracy and dynamic range, so photos can remain more consistent across different lighting conditions.

That focus helps explain why the new lineup is being treated as more than a routine refresh. Huawei is not only changing the hardware on paper, but also pushing a clearer imaging identity across all three variants.

A New Look With a Triangular Camera Module

The visual redesign is just as noticeable as the camera specifications. Huawei has replaced the familiar layout with a triangular rear camera module, giving the Pura 90 series a more distinct back-panel appearance.

The display design also varies by model. The Pura 90 uses a 6.8-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pura 90 Pro moves to a 6.6-inch LTPO OLED display at 120Hz. The Pura 90 Pro Max goes larger still with a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED panel and the same 120Hz refresh rate.

Front-camera placement changes as well. The standard model uses a pill-shaped cutout, while the Pura 90 Pro and Pro Max shift to a single punch-hole layout that looks cleaner. The Pro Max further adds Kunlun Glass protection and a dual-tone finish, reinforcing its more premium positioning in the lineup.

Kirin Chips and Wide Memory Choices

Inside the phones, Huawei separates the processing hardware by version. The Pura 90 is powered by the Kirin 9010S, while the Pura 90 Pro and Pura 90 Pro Max use the Kirin 9030S.

Huawei says the new chip generation supports better image processing, stabilization, and overall device efficiency. The entire series also comes with 12 GB to 16 GB of RAM, keeping multitasking and heavy daily use in focus.

Storage options are broad as well. The Pura 90 is offered in 256 GB and 512 GB versions, while the Pura 90 Pro and Pro Max add a 1 TB variant alongside 256 GB and 512 GB options.

Battery Capacity Becomes a Major Selling Point

Battery hardware is another area where the new series tries to stand out. The Huawei Pura 90 packs a 6,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging, making it the most battery-heavy option among the three.

The Pura 90 Pro comes with a 6,000 mAh battery and 66W charging, while the Pura 90 Pro Max also uses a 6,000 mAh battery but supports 100W wired charging. Reports also indicate that the Pro and Pro Max support faster wireless charging, with the Pro Max reaching up to 80W.

This combination makes the Pro Max the most complete package in the family for users who want both stronger imaging hardware and greater charging flexibility.

Official Prices in China

Huawei has launched the series with multiple storage and RAM combinations at the following official prices:

  1. Huawei Pura 90 12GB + 256GB: 4,699 yuan
  2. Huawei Pura 90 12GB + 512GB: 5,199 yuan

  10. Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max 16GB + 512GB: 7,499 yuan
  11. Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max 16GB + 1TB: 8,499 yuan

With that structure, Huawei gives the Pura 90 series a clear internal ladder: the base model serves as the entry point to the flagship range, the Pro balances features, and the Pro Max pushes hardest on camera capability, display size, and overall hardware ambition.
