Vivo Y500s Brings 7,200 mAh Endurance, 120 Hz Display, and 5G to the Mid-Range Class

Vivo has introduced the Y500s in China, positioning it as a mid-range phone built around endurance rather than flashy extras. The most attention-grabbing part is its 7,200 mAh battery, which is paired with 44-watt fast charging for users who want long-lasting daily use without giving up practical charging speeds.

That battery-first approach is supported by a set of features that keep the Y500s competitive in its segment. Vivo adds 5G support, a 120 Hz display, dust and water resistance, and generous memory configurations, making the device a strong fit for users looking for a balanced mid-range package.

Battery capacity takes center stage

The main selling point of the Vivo Y500s is its unusually large battery for a mid-range device. At 7,200 mAh, the battery sits well above what many phones in this class still offer, giving the Y500s a clear identity in a crowded market.

Vivo also says the battery uses Blue Ocean 3 battery technology, which is claimed to remain safe in extreme temperatures ranging from minus 20 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius. The company further states that the battery is rated for up to 1,600 charging cycles and should still hold more than 80 percent of its capacity after that point, which is described as roughly six years of use.

Display and camera focus on everyday use

On the front, the Y500s uses a 6.75-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,570 pixels. The screen also carries a 120 Hz refresh rate, a specification that should help animations and navigation feel smoother during regular use.

For imaging, Vivo equips the phone with a 50 MP main camera on the back. The front side includes an 8 MP selfie camera, which is aimed at everyday video calls and casual self-portraits rather than advanced camera work.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and 5G support

Performance comes from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset built on a 4 nm process. The chip also brings 5G connectivity, so the phone is not only focused on battery life but also stays ready for faster mobile networks.

Vivo pairs the processor with up to 12 GB of RAM and as much as 512 GB of internal storage. That combination gives the Y500s room for multitasking, large files, and a broader app library without feeling cramped too quickly.

Built for durability as well

Beyond endurance and connectivity, Vivo has also given the Y500s a durable build for its class. The phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, indicating a high level of resistance against dust and water.

The device also includes stereo speakers with a water-cleaning mode, while the fingerprint sensor sits on the power button. This placement keeps unlocking straightforward and in line with what many mid-range users expect for daily convenience.

Pricing in China

Vivo is offering the Y500s in several memory variants in China, with official pricing set as follows:

  1. 8/256 GB: 1,800 yuan
  2. 12/256 GB: 2,200 yuan
  3. 8/512 GB: 2,200 yuan

Based on circulating information, the 8/256 GB version is priced at around Rp 4,4 jutaan. The two 2,200 yuan variants are reported to be around Rp 5,3 jutaan.

At this stage, there is still no official information on availability outside China, including the Indonesian market. Even so, the combination of a 7,200 mAh battery, 120 Hz display, 5G support, and IP68/IP69 protection makes the Vivo Y500s one of the more distinctive mid-range releases currently aimed at China.
