Vivo has quietly expanded its S50 lineup in China with the S50t 5G, a model that looks very close to the standard S50 but arrives with one notable step down inside. The most important change is not in the design or the camera setup, but in the storage hardware, making this device feel more like a trimmed variant than a fully new direction for the series.
A small cut that changes the positioning
The clearest difference between the two phones is the storage standard. Vivo S50 uses UFS 4.1, while the S50t 5G moves down to UFS 3.1.
That downgrade is real, but it is not framed as something that would immediately stand out in everyday use. In practice, the phone still keeps most of the core experience intact, which is why the S50t 5G remains very close to the main S50 model in positioning.
Pricing stays close to the original model
Vivo S50t 5G starts at 3,299 yuan for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version. For a limited period, that price drops to 3,199 yuan.
A second variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at 3,599 yuan. For comparison, the 12GB/512GB configuration of the Vivo S50 is said to be only about 100 yuan apart, which shows how narrow the gap is between the two phones.
That small difference suggests Vivo is aiming the S50t 5G at buyers who want high-end specifications without paying for every premium detail found on the main model.
Design remains slim and premium
Vivo has not changed much in the industrial design. The phone keeps the slim profile of the S50, with some color options measuring as thin as 7.49 mm.
The back uses satin-finish glass, while the frame is made from aluminum. Vivo also offers four color choices: Confession, Serenity Blue, Inspiration Purple, and Space Black.
The display and battery setup stay competitive
The S50t 5G carries a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR, and P3 color gamut.
For eye comfort, Vivo adds low blue light technology and high-frequency PWM dimming. The display package keeps the phone competitive for video playback, everyday scrolling, and color-rich content.
Power comes from a 6,500mAh battery, and charging is handled through 90W wired support. Wireless charging is not included.
Performance and software remain high-end
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and paired with LPDDR5X RAM. It runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.
That combination keeps the device in a strong performance tier, even though the storage hardware has been toned down. The larger battery also helps the phone remain suitable for heavier daily use.
Camera hardware is left intact
Vivo does not appear to have cut back on imaging. The rear setup includes a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera.
The periscope unit uses a Sony IMX882 sensor. On the front, the phone carries a 50MP selfie camera. Both the front and rear cameras also get their own flash, which should help in low-light shooting.
Extra features still fill out the package
The S50t 5G includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. It also supports Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, an IR blaster, and an X-axis linear motor.
With those specifications in place, the S50t 5G ends up looking almost identical to the Vivo S50 at a glance. The storage downgrade to UFS 3.1 is the main detail that separates it from the standard model, and that is the change most likely to matter to close observers of the series.
