LG UltraGear 32GX870B Splits Between 4K 240Hz And 1080p 480Hz For Rival Play

LG’s UltraGear 32GX870B is aimed at gamers who want one display that can switch between two very different priorities without changing monitors. It can run at 4K 240Hz for detail-rich play or drop to 1080p 480Hz when speed matters most.

That flexibility gives the 31.5-inch OLED model a broader appeal than a typical premium gaming display. Instead of serving only one type of player, it is built for both visually demanding single-player games and fast competitive titles.

Two modes for two kinds of play

The monitor supports VESA Dual Mode, allowing users to move from 4K 240Hz to 1080p 480Hz. LG says the higher-resolution setting suits games that benefit from sharper image quality and more visible detail.

The lower-resolution mode is intended for esports titles such as Valorant and Counter-Strike 2, where responsiveness is more important than image density. LG also allows the active screen area to be reduced to 27 inches or 24.5 inches in 1080p 480Hz mode, with a black border around the image.

Panel upgrade with Tandem OLED

The most notable hardware change is the use of fourth-generation Tandem OLED with a four-layer Primary RGB design. LG positions this panel as an upgrade over the three-layer emission structure used in the earlier 32GX870A.

According to LG, the display reaches 335 nits typical SDR brightness and a peak HDR brightness of up to 1,500 nits. It also covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, with claimed out-of-box color accuracy below Delta E 2.

Built for motion clarity

For fast-moving games, LG lists a gray-to-gray response time of 0.03 ms. The monitor also carries VESA ClearMR 13000 certification, which is meant to reflect strong motion clarity.

Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro are both supported as well. Together, those features are meant to reduce blur and tearing when gameplay becomes especially rapid.

Connectivity for gaming and beyond

LG equips the UltraGear 32GX870B with DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, giving it enough bandwidth for very high refresh rates without leaning too heavily on display stream compression. It also includes two HDMI ports and a USB-C connection with 90W power delivery.

A two-port USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub is built in for peripherals. That makes the monitor suitable not only for gaming PCs, but also for more compact work and entertainment setups.

Design, audio, and pricing

The monitor includes integrated 7W stereo speakers, along with AI-based upscaling and sound optimization features. Its stand supports height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and 90-degree pivot, while the thin bezels on all four sides help it fit cleanly into multi-monitor arrangements.

LG has launched the UltraGear 32GX870B in Japan at 169,800 yen. Shipping there is scheduled to begin on June 11, while availability for other markets has not yet been announced.
