Best Buy’s latest update to My Best Buy makes the value equation sharper for shoppers. The company is lowering the cost of one paid tier while raising the price of its top plan, creating a clearer split between everyday savings and premium support.
The most notable change is the permanent cut to My Best Buy Plus. Its annual fee drops from $50 to $29.99, and Best Buy says the new price takes effect beginning June 4, although the updated rate already appears on the company’s official sign-up page.
A cheaper entry point for paid membership
At the new price, Plus becomes a much easier buy for customers who want more than the free tier without committing to a high annual fee. The plan still includes free two day shipping, exclusive pricing, member only deals, and an extended return window on most products.
That combination keeps Plus positioned as the middle option in the My Best Buy lineup. It is designed for regular shoppers who want tangible shopping benefits, but do not need the broader protection and service features attached to the highest tier.
The premium tier gets more expensive
While Plus becomes less expensive, My Best Buy Total moves in the opposite direction. Best Buy is raising the annual cost of Total from $179.99 to $199.99, with the new price also expected to take effect on June 4.
Total remains the most comprehensive plan in the program. It includes everything offered in Plus, then adds product protection plans, 24/7 tech support, and discounts on repairs and services.
That makes the higher price easier to understand in context: Best Buy is separating the two paid options more clearly. Plus is now the lower-cost shopping membership, while Total keeps its role as the full-service package for customers who want extra coverage and support.
Rewards are changing too
Best Buy is also adding a new rewards structure for both paid tiers. Starting June 4, members of My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total will earn 1 percent back on qualifying purchases.
Owners of the My Best Buy Credit Card can receive up to 6 percent back. The company is pairing that change with a digital hub that will let members track rewards through its website and app.
This adds a new layer to a program that has mainly emphasized shipping, deals, and post-purchase benefits until now. The rewards feature gives the paid memberships another reason to stand out beyond the headline price changes.
The free tier remains in place
The standard My Best Buy tier is still free, so customers are not required to pay for basic membership access. Its main benefit remains standard shipping at no cost after signing up with an email address.
That keeps a no-fee option available for shoppers who only want a simple entry point into the program. But its benefits are still much more limited than what Best Buy now offers through Plus and Total.
Taken together, the update gives My Best Buy a more defined three-tier structure. The free level stays as the basic gateway, Plus becomes the lower-cost paid option, and Total remains the most feature-heavy plan even after its price increase.
