OnePlus is taking an unusually split approach to the mid-range market with the Nord CE6 and Nord CE6 Lite. Although both phones are set to arrive on 7 May at 12:00 WIB, they are aimed at very different types of buyers and are not being treated as simple variants of the same device.
The two models also follow different sales timelines. Nord CE6 goes on sale on 8 May at 12:00 IST, while Nord CE6 Lite follows on 12 May at 12:00 IST, and both will be sold only through Amazon India and OnePlus’ official online store.
Built for different priorities
Nord CE6 is positioned for users who care about performance, gaming, and durability. Nord CE6 Lite, by contrast, is aimed at buyers who want an affordable phone that still offers a strong set of everyday features.
That split is visible in the hardware choices. OnePlus has equipped Nord CE6 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and a dedicated Touch Reflex touch chip, paired with a 3,200 Hz touch sampling rate for fast response in demanding use cases, including gaming targets of up to 144 fps.
The display on Nord CE6 uses an AMOLED panel with a high refresh rate that is said to possibly reach 144Hz. Battery support is equally aggressive, with an 8,000 mAh cell, 80W fast charging, and bypass charging that sends power directly to the system while gaming.
Durability and cooling get special attention
OnePlus is also putting heavy emphasis on toughness. Nord CE6 carries IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certification, while cooling is handled by a 33,000 mm² vapor chamber.
Those details help explain its market positioning. With an expected price range of ₹24,999–27,999, Nord CE6 is being framed as a mid-range model that can push into higher territory, especially for gaming-focused buyers.
The company also lists Fresh Blue, Lunar Pearl, and Pitch Black as color options. Battery life is claimed to stretch beyond 2.5 days under normal use or more than 10 hours of nonstop gaming.
A more practical route for everyday use
Nord CE6 Lite takes a different path by using the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset. Its 6.7-inch LCD display still supports a 144Hz refresh rate, which should keep scrolling, social media, YouTube, and WhatsApp feeling smooth.
The battery is smaller than the one in Nord CE6, but still substantial at 7,000 mAh, and it also supports 80W charging. OnePlus says a full charge can be completed in around 40 minutes, and that the phone can last for more than two days with light to moderate use.
Camera hardware is simpler here as well. Nord CE6 Lite uses a dual 50MP rear setup with a main camera and an ultra-wide unit, plus a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
Where the differences matter most
Taken together, the two phones show a clear division in OnePlus’ mid-range strategy. Nord CE6 brings the more premium screen tech, the larger battery, stronger cooling, a 32MP front camera, and the more complete durability package.
Nord CE6 Lite trims those extras to keep the price lower, but it still holds onto a 144Hz refresh rate, a large battery, and 80W fast charging. That makes it competitive in a segment below ₹25,000, where practical features often matter more than flagship-style performance.
There is also a layer of market timing behind the launch. Nord CE6 is said to possibly be a rebrand of the OnePlus Turbo 6V previously introduced in China, which adds another reason the device is drawing attention ahead of release.
With this lineup, OnePlus is not just launching two phones at the same time. It is separating a performance-first model from a value-focused one, then spacing out the sales dates to keep interest alive across two distinct audiences.
