Apple Holds The Line On iPhone 18 Pro Pricing, While Camera Upgrades Take Center Stage

Apple appears ready to keep the iPhone 18 Pro line anchored at familiar starting prices even as memory costs rise across the industry. That approach would help the company avoid passing the pressure straight to buyers of its premium phones when the models arrive in the fall.

The pricing strategy stands out because Android rivals may face broader cost increases from higher production expenses. By holding the entry price steady on its Pro lineup, Apple could preserve one of its strongest advantages in the premium segment without changing the first number customers see.

Pricing signals point to stability

9to5Mac, citing analysts, reported that Apple is likely to keep the entry price unchanged for both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Jeff Pu is said to believe the starting prices will remain in place, matching an earlier view from Ming-Chi Kuo that Apple wants pricing to stay close to the previous generation.

Under the current leak, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start at $1,099, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to begin at $1,199. The same figures were described as roughly Rp19 million for the iPhone 18 Pro and around Rp20 million for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Higher storage may still cost more

Even with the base prices held steady, Apple could still raise prices on models with larger storage capacities. That would give the company room to protect margins without changing the headline price that usually matters most to buyers.

This kind of approach would also let Apple stay competitive while component costs put pressure on the wider market. In practice, it means the company can keep its entry-level Pro models stable while adjusting pricing higher up the range if needed.

Design changes appear limited

On the design side, Macrumors says the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to look broadly similar to the iPhone 17 Pro. The rear setup is still expected to use a triple-lens camera arrangement with a familiar camera platform.

The most noticeable change may be on the front. Dynamic Island is reportedly set to become slimmer, which could make the display area look cleaner without a dramatic redesign.

The size of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is also said to remain unchanged. Even so, both models are expected to be slightly thicker than the current iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Camera and chip upgrades draw attention

One of the most interesting rumors suggests that at least one iPhone 18 Pro model will get a variable aperture lens for the main camera. That feature would let users manually control how much light reaches the sensor.

With that control, the camera could handle overexposure more effectively and offer greater flexibility over lighting and depth of field. If that report proves accurate, the camera system could become one of the biggest reasons to watch the next Pro generation.

The hardware upgrades are not limited to imaging. The iPhone 18 Pro series is also rumored to use Apple’s A20 chip built on TSMC’s nanometer process, with the Pro models potentially getting an A20 Pro variant.

There is also talk that Apple’s 2026 iPhone Pro line will debut the C2 modem with mmWave 5G support. Taken together, the stable starting price and the hardware changes point to a Pro lineup that Apple wants to keep tightly positioned in the premium market.
