Vivo X300 Ultra Goes Beyond 200MP, ZEISS 400mm Zoom Pushes It Closer to a Pro Camera

Vivo X300 Ultra is positioned as more than a flagship with a high-resolution main camera. The device is being shaped as a complete imaging system, with a 200MP sensor, dedicated teleconverter accessories, and video tools aimed at users who want more than casual point-and-shoot performance.

What makes it stand out is the way Vivo ties the phone to an expandable camera setup. Instead of relying only on the built-in lenses, the company is pairing the X300 Ultra with Zeiss telephoto extenders that push its reach to 400mm, a level still uncommon in smartphones.

A three-camera setup built for different jobs

The rear camera array uses three lenses with distinct purposes. The ultra-wide camera sits at 14mm and uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 818 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, OIS, and third-generation VCS bionic spectrum technology.

The main camera moves to a 35mm focal length and uses a 200MP Sony LYTIA 901 sensor with an f/1.85 aperture. Vivo says this camera has been improved for better light capture and reduced reflections.

For telephoto work, Vivo uses an 85mm camera based on a 200MP Samsung HP0 sensor. It comes with gimbal-level 3-degree stabilization and autofocus capability of up to 60 operations per second, while all three rear cameras also include OIS.

The accessory that changes the zoom story

The most unusual part of the X300 Ultra is not the phone itself, but the system built around it. Vivo offers two external telephoto extender modules as part of its collaboration with Zeiss, turning the handset into a more flexible shooting tool.

The Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra delivers a 400mm focal length and uses a 15-element optical structure. A second option, the standard Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2, provides a 200mm focal length with around 8.7x optical zoom.

Both extenders feature CIPA 6.5-rated stabilization, ZEISS APO optical standards, and autofocus support of up to 60fps. Vivo groups the built-in cameras and these accessories under the “ZEISS Master Lenses Collection,” although the extenders only work when paired with the Vivo Imaging Grip Kit.

That grip accessory is an important part of the setup because it makes the phone feel closer to a dedicated camera system. Vivo is clearly selling an expandable imaging platform, not just a conventional flagship handset.

Video tools target serious creators

The camera focus is not limited to still photography. On the video side, the X300 Ultra supports 4K 120fps Dolby Vision recording and also offers 4K 120fps 10-bit Log across all lenses.

Vivo adds four microphones, 3D LUT import support, and ACES workflow compatibility to make color and post-production work more flexible. The phone also includes built-in cinematic modes such as 24fps film-style capture and a modern 60fps format.

These features point to a device that is trying to serve creators who care about editing flexibility as much as they care about capture quality. Vivo’s approach suggests that the X300 Ultra is meant to handle both still images and serious video use.

Flagship hardware, large battery, and durability

Beyond imaging, the phone carries a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 2160Hz PWM dimming. Performance comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Vivo says the cooling system has also been improved. The device uses a liquid cooling vapor chamber with 14 percent better overall heat dissipation, and the vapor chamber itself is 22 percent larger.

The X300 Ultra runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6. Power is supplied by a 6,600mAh battery, which supports 90W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, and it arrives in Victory Green and Eclipse Black with a metal pancake-style camera module finished with a knurled texture.

Pricing and accessories in India

In India, the Vivo X300 Ultra is available in two configurations. The 12GB/512GB model is priced at Rs 159,999, while the 16GB/512GB version costs Rs 169,999.

The 400mm telephoto extender is sold separately for Rs 27,999, and the Imaging Grip Kit is priced at Rs 11,999. Vivo is also offering a bundle that includes the X300 Ultra, the grip kit, and both extenders for Rs 2,09,999.
