ASUS ExpertBook Ultra Shrinks To 0.99 Kg, Yet Delivers Workstation-Grade Power

ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is built around an unusual promise for a business laptop: extreme portability without giving up serious computing muscle. At just 0.99 kg, the 14-inch device is positioned as an AI-focused machine for modern work that demands mobility, security, and high performance in one chassis.

The company also says it has the world’s smallest 14-inch footprint, with a 10.9 mm profile and dimensions of 309.1 x 208.7 mm. That compact shape is paired with a heterogeneous AI computing platform that combines the latest-generation CPU, a powerful GPU, and a capable NPU.

Performance tuned for heavy workloads

Inside the slim body, ASUS uses Intel Core Ultra X9 388H Series 3 with a 16-core architecture as the main processor. Workloads are split across the CPU, GPU, and NPU so the system can stay responsive under demanding tasks.

Cooling is a major part of that equation. ExpertCool Pro is designed to keep TDP stable at 50W without time limits, while Whisper mode keeps operation under 20dB.

The graphics side also gets unusual attention for an ultraportable. ASUS says the integrated Intel Arc B390 outperforms NVIDIA RTX 4050 discrete graphics by up to 35 percent in 3DMark Time Spy.

Storage and memory are equally aggressive for a business notebook. The laptop uses 64GB LPDDR5X memory at 9600 MT/s, while the 2TB PCIe Gen 5 x4 SSD is claimed to reach read speeds of 14,090 MB/s.

Built for long workdays and AI processing

Battery life is another major selling point. The 70Wh battery is claimed to last up to 26 hours, and it can charge to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.

AI processing is not handled only in the cloud. ASUS says the platform reaches 180 TOPS for local AI work, helped by a 50 TOPS NPU that reduces dependence on cloud latency.

The company also frames the machine as a practical tool for everyday business use, not just raw benchmark numbers. That includes a Tandem OLED 14-inch 3K display that is said to be three times brighter than standard OLED and 40 percent more power efficient.

The panel supports up to 1,400 nits peak brightness, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, Delta E below 1, a 30-120Hz refresh rate, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000. ASUS adds nano-etching and Gorilla Glass Victus to reduce reflections, and says the glare level is only 19 GU.

Mobility, durability, and enterprise security

To keep weight down, ASUS uses aerospace-grade AZ31B magnesium-aluminum alloy. The material is claimed to make the chassis 34 percent lighter, while Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation and nano-ceramic coating deliver 9H hardness and are said to make the surface five times more scratch resistant than the industry standard.

The design is also backed by a wide durability program. ASUS says it tested the device through 24 MIL-STD-810H procedures across 11 categories, including 15,000-foot altitude, temperatures from -51°C to 60°C, 40G shock, and 95 percent humidity.

Additional internal testing includes 157 procedures, among them 50,000 hinge open-close cycles, 60,000 chassis rub cycles, and 250,000 keycap rub cycles. The device also comes with business warranty coverage of up to five years, including next-business-day on-site service.

Security is treated as a core layer rather than an add-on. ASUS ExpertGuardian includes NIST SP 800-193 compliance, an ASUS Security Processor, dual BIOS ROM self-healing, FIPS 140-2 certified TPM 2.0, Microsoft Pluton, a Match-on-Chip fingerprint sensor, Windows Hello IR, a physical webcam privacy shutter, chassis intrusion detection, and Microsoft Secured-Core PC certification.

Data protection is further supported by an SSD Opal 2.0 Self-Encrypting Drive. ASUS also notes Type-C charging support from 5V to 20V, along with EPEAT Climate Gold certification and the EU PEF standard.

Features aimed at meetings and daily use

ASUS has also filled the laptop with hardware designed for meeting-heavy workflows. The audio setup uses Dolby Atmos with six speakers and a peak volume of 95dB, while AI VoicePrint microphones are included for voice-related tasks.

For input, the keyboard has 1.5 mm key travel, and the glass haptic touchpad spans 110 cm² with six independent force sensors. Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports, HDMI 2.1, and an audio jack on both sides.

Wireless performance is centered on Wi-Fi 7, supported by LDS antenna technology that ASUS says improves signal efficiency by 43 percent. The laptop also includes MyExpert AI, an on-device suite with no subscription fee.

That package covers ExpertMeet for automatic meeting transcription and summaries, Knowledge Hub for turning local documents into a knowledge base, and File Search for context-based searching across local and cloud storage. ASUS also includes ExpertLumi for welcome lighting during boot, login, and shutdown, plus features such as an LED Mic/Mute indicator, gesture-based volume control on the touchpad, Auto-Presence Lock, and a one-hand hinge design.
