Apple Settlement Could Pay Up to Rp1.6 Million Per iPhone, But Strict Eligibility Applies

Apple is preparing a payout for iPhone users tied to a class-action settlement over delays to a personalized Siri feature. The amount per eligible device is expected to fall between $25 and $95, but only a narrow group of users can qualify.

The settlement has drawn attention because the payment is not open to all iPhone owners. Eligibility is limited by country, device model, and the purchase window, which means many users will not be included.

Who may qualify

The compensation applies only to users in the United States. Their device must have been purchased with Apple Intelligence support between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025.

The eligible models are iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. These devices form the main group that may receive payment under the settlement.

How much Apple may pay

The initial payout is set at $25 per qualifying device. That amount is not fixed, because it may change depending on how many valid claims are submitted.

If the number of claims is high, the payment per device could be lower. The maximum compensation is capped at $95 per device.

Apple has set aside a total of $250 million for the settlement. That figure does not all go directly to consumers, because it also covers legal fees, administration costs, and other settlement-related expenses.

Why the case was filed

The dispute began with a class-action lawsuit filed in March by a group of iPhone users in the United States. They argued that Apple delayed the rollout of the personalized Siri feature even though it had already been announced at WWDC 2024.

The plaintiffs also said Apple promoted AI capabilities that were not yet available. According to the complaint, the company built public expectations through the internet, television, and other media that these features would arrive when the iPhone launched.

Apple did not admit wrongdoing in the settlement. The company said it acted in good faith and complied with all applicable rules, regulations, and laws.

A spokesperson for Apple also said the company has delivered dozens of features since the launch of Apple Intelligence. Those features span multiple languages and are integrated across Apple platforms with privacy protections at every stage.

Apple also pointed to several features that are already available, including Visual Intelligence, Live Translation, Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Clean Up.

What claimants need to prepare

Users who want to file a claim will need proof of purchase for an eligible device. The required information includes the device serial number, Apple account information, and phone number.

The settlement has already received preliminary approval. Notice of the claims process is expected to be sent within 45 days, so eligible users will need to watch for the next steps closely.
