Xiaomi’s next large-format flagship is starting to look less like a normal spec update and more like a direct challenge to rivals that rely on smaller batteries and slower charging. A recent appearance in China’s 3C certification database for model number 2605EPN8EC has added weight to the idea that the Xiaomi 17 Max is moving closer to a launch in the Chinese market.
The certification listing stands out mainly because it points to 100W fast charging. That single detail is already enough to make the device notable, especially when paired with the battery and display rumors circulating around it.
A battery that changes the equation
Several reports indicate that Xiaomi 17 Max will carry an 8,000mAh battery. If accurate, that would place it well above the typical capacity seen in current flagship phones and make battery life one of its strongest selling points.
The charging setup also appears unusually ambitious. Alongside 100W wired charging, the device is said to support 50W wireless charging, giving users two fast ways to top up the phone.
Big-screen flagship, but without the rear display
On the display side, Xiaomi 17 Max is said to use a flat 6.9-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution. The screen is also expected to offer a 144Hz refresh rate, which should help with smoother scrolling, gaming, and video playback.
Unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, this model is not expected to include an additional rear screen. That detail suggests Xiaomi 17 Max may be positioned as a more traditional flagship centered on a large main display.
Flagship hardware under the hood
Performance rumors place the Xiaomi 17 Max on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a chipset expected to sit among Qualcomm’s top-tier offerings. The phone is also said to come with LPDDR5x RAM of up to 16GB and UFS 4.1 storage of up to 1TB.
That combination points to a device designed for heavy multitasking and demanding gaming. The hardware package also fits the profile of a premium phone meant to compete at the highest end of the market.
Cameras aim high as well
The camera setup is reportedly just as serious as the rest of the spec sheet. Xiaomi 17 Max is said to feature a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
At the back, the phone is rumored to use a triple-camera system made up of a Samsung HPE 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. That arrangement signals Xiaomi’s intention to keep camera performance central to the phone’s appeal.
Software, security, and other expected details
The phone is also expected to launch with Android 16 and HyperOS 3. Security and convenience features reportedly include an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, symmetrical stereo speakers, and IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.
Only black and white color options have been mentioned so far. Current rumors also suggest that Xiaomi 17 Max may be sold exclusively in China, which makes the 3C appearance an especially important signal for fans tracking its progress.
