Fans heading to Sporting Park for Sporting Kansas City vs. Red Bull New York on Saturday should plan for a full matchday experience that starts well before kickoff. The game is set for 7:30 PM CT, and organizers are urging supporters to arrive early for plaza activities tied to Star Wars Night.
That early arrival matters for another reason as well, since gate traffic, ticket scanning, and bag checks can take extra time. Sporting Park also has a road closure in place near the venue because of construction on the new Buc-ee’s, with all four ramps of the N. 110th Street exit off I-70 closed along with part of Village West Parkway near the I-70 and 110th Street exit.
Road access and arrival planning
Drivers should review the updated route before leaving for the stadium, especially if they normally use the I-70 and N. 110th Street exit. The venue recommends checking the posted map to see how the closure may affect the trip to Sporting Park.
Parking information is available at SportingKC.com/Stadium/Parking for fans who want to plan ahead. The stadium also continues to use new GFiber Fast Lanes to make entry safer and easier.
What to expect before kickoff
Star Wars Night will bring added activity to Sporting Plaza before the match. The pregame setup includes Jedi and Sith roaming the plaza, interactive games, giveaways, and a Grogu Bobblehead gate giveaway with limited quantity.
Supporter Stand ticket holders and Season Ticket Members are also being encouraged to spend time at the Budweiser Brew House before the match. Sporting KC says there will be prematch specials available there for those fans.
Ticketing, entry, and payment rules
Sporting KC tickets are mobile-only and must be managed through SeatGeek Account Manager. Screenshots of tickets will not be accepted, and the club recommends transferring tickets to each person in the party before arrival.
Tickets will be scanned before fans go through security, which should help speed up the entry process. Inside the venue, cash is not accepted, and mobile ordering is available for Sporting Style merchandise and concessions through the Sporting KC app.
Bag policy and security reminders
The stadium asks fans not to bring bags if possible to simplify entry. If a bag is brought, it must follow the clear bag policy, and all bags are subject to search.
Clear bags up to 12” x 12” x 6” may be allowed after inspection, while small clutch purses no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” may also be permitted after screening. Backpacks of any kind, including clear backpacks and drawstring bags, are not allowed inside Sporting Park.
Medical bags and diaper bags are allowed when accompanied by a baby or small child, but they must still go through inspection and tagging. Fans wearing Supporters Stand tickets should also avoid opposing team colors or gear, since those items are not permitted in that section and can lead to seat relocation.
Matchday atmosphere and stadium notices
Sporting Park uses pyrotechnics and strobe lighting effects, which may not be suitable for people with certain medical conditions or light sensitivity. The club advises fans to keep that in mind when planning to attend.
Smoking, including e-cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco are not allowed anywhere at Sporting Park. Fans needing more stadium details can check the Sporting Park A-Z Guide for protocols, accommodations, and other matchday information.
Gear, shopping, and in-stadium technology
Sporting Style will carry exclusive Sporting KC x Star Wars gear for the match, available both online and at the stadium. One SportingStyle store on the east side of the building, at the top of section 131, also uses Amazon Just Walk Out technology as the only checkout method at that location.
That store lets fans shop by selecting items, swiping a card at the kiosk, and leaving without waiting in a checkout line. Sporting Pay is not accepted at that specific SportingStyle store, so shoppers should plan accordingly before heading inside.
