Silo Season 3 Raises the Stakes, Apple TV’s Dystopian Hit Returns With a New Origin Story

Apple TV is getting ready to bring back one of its most talked-about dramas, and the new season of Silo comes with a major twist. Season 3 will expand the story beyond the underground silo and into the “Before Times,” while Juliette Nichols faces the fallout of memory loss after surviving her cleaning.

The 10-episode season premieres globally on Apple TV with the first episode on Friday, July 3. New episodes will arrive every Friday through September 4, 2026.

A bigger mystery around the silo

Based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy, the series continues to follow a dystopian society of 10,000 people living underground under mysterious circumstances. In the present-day storyline, Juliette Nichols, played by and executive produced by Rebecca Ferguson, returns after her forced cleaning with no memory of what happened.

At the same time, the silo is still recovering from rebellion and now faces a dangerous new threat. That setup pushes the drama into a fresh phase without leaving behind the tension that made the series a breakout hit.

The origin story widens the scope

Season 3 also travels centuries earlier to explore an origin story set in the “Before Times.” There, journalist Helen Drew, played by Jessica Henwick, and Congressman Daniel Keene, played by Ashley Zukerman, uncover a conspiracy that leads to catastrophic, irreversible consequences.

The photo call for the new season took place in Los Angeles on Monday, June 15, with Ferguson joined by series creator, showrunner and executive producer Graham Yost, along with Common, Ashley Zukerman, Jessica Henwick and Alexandria Riley.

Returning cast and new additions

The returning ensemble includes Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Rick Gomez, Billy Postlethwaite and Clare Perkins. Joining the cast for season 3 are Zukerman and Henwick, who appeared in the season 2 finale, plus Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney and Matt Craven.

Colin Hanks is set to recur, and Steve Zahn is also set to return. Apple TV has already renewed Silo for a fourth and final season, keeping the show’s long-term future in view as the third chapter begins.

Apple TV keeps betting on its sci-fi flagship

Silo is produced by Apple Studios and executive produced by Yost, Michael Dinner, Nina Jack, Joanna Thapa, Ferguson, Morten Tyldum, Howey, Amber Templemore, Fred Golan, Rémi Aubuchon and AMC Studios.

Apple TV says the series has earned praise as “genuinely brilliant,” “immensely satisfying” and “one of the best sci-fi TV shows today.” The first two seasons are now streaming globally on Apple TV, where the service is available on more than 1 billion screens across over 100 countries and regions.

Apple TV is available through the Apple TV app, at tv.apple.com, and on devices including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K, Apple Vision Pro, Mac, popular smart TVs, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox.
