Sky-Wings Injury Update Leaves Odyssey Sims Out, Alanna Smith Still in Doubt

Saturday night’s matchup between the Chicago Sky and Dallas Wings comes with a thin injury margin on both sides, and the latest report leaves one guard out and one forward uncertain for Dallas.

The Sky enter the game short-handed as they try to stop a four-game losing streak, while the Wings will look to recover at home after Wednesday’s loss to the Golden State Valkyries.

Chicago’s injury list keeps shrinking, but not enough

Chicago has ruled out DiJonai Carrington, who is still recovering from left foot surgery, and Courtney Vandersloot, who remains sidelined after right knee surgery for a torn ACL last June. Rickea Jackson is also out for the season after surgery on a torn ACL.

That leaves the Sky in a difficult spot as they try to build on a 4-10 start and turn the page after another loss at home to the New York Liberty. Gabriela Jaquez and Sydney Taylor carried much of the scoring load in that defeat, but the lineup remains depleted.

Dallas gets one clear absence and one big question

Dallas has already ruled out Odyssey Sims because of a left ankle injury, and she will miss her sixth straight game. That removes another rotation piece for a Wings team that is trying to stay steady at 9-6.

The more uncertain status belongs to Alanna Smith, who is questionable because of an illness and could miss her first game since May 28. Alysha Clark is also listed as questionable with a left leg injury, adding to the uncertainty around Dallas’ available frontcourt and wing depth.

In Wednesday’s defeat, Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 21 points and three assists, while Jessica Shepard added 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Dallas will need that production again if Smith and Clark are unable to suit up.

The matchup tips off Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET from Dallas and will air on CBS and Paramount Plus.
