The Steam Summer Sale 2026 is live now, and it will run until 9 July. For PC gamers, that means two full weeks of discounts without the pressure of daily rotation or a race against changing deal windows.
This year’s sale lands at a useful moment for players who have been waiting on recent releases. Several major games from 2024 and 2025 are back on the table at lower prices, and some of this year’s bigger releases are also getting their first meaningful discounts.
What stands out this year
According to www.altchar.com, average discounts are sitting around 45 per cent across participating titles. The most common reductions are 50, 57, and 75 per cent, while older catalogue games can go as high as 90 per cent off.
Valve does not reveal the full count of participating games in advance, but recent Summer Sales have featured more than 4,000 discounted titles. That scale has helped make the event one of the busiest moments of the year for Steam shoppers.
Recent releases now in the mix
Among the games eligible for notable discounts are Gothic 1 Remake, Resident Evil Requiem, and Crimson Desert. These are the kinds of releases many players have been waiting to see drop below full price.
The sale also gives a broader discount pass to games that launched at full price across 2024 and 2025, making it a strong window for anyone building a backlog or filling gaps between major releases.
Why the timing matters
The Summer Sale arrives just before a packed stretch for PC gaming. Halo: Campaign Evolved lands on 28 July with early access from 23 July, followed by The Blood of Dawnwalker on 3 September and Gears of War E-Day on 6 October.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is also due on consoles on 19 November, although there is still no confirmed PC date. For players looking for something to play in the meantime, the Steam Summer Sale 2026 is the obvious place to start.
