Third-Party Data Breach May Affect Some Former Mayo Clinic Patients

A new data breach involving a healthcare company may have affected some former Mayo Clinic patients, according to a letter sent to them.

The company, Xsolis, said it found and contained the breach on Jan. 22. Xsolis handles utilization management for healthcare groups, which can involve sensitive patient information.

Mayo Clinic Mentioned, But Not Named as the Breach Victim

The letter refers to Mayo Clinic several times, but there is no evidence Mayo Clinic itself was the victim of the breach. That distinction matters for patients trying to understand where the risk appears to have originated.

ABC 6 News reached out to Mayo Clinic for comment and had not heard back as of the newscast.

The notice leaves open questions about how many former patients may have been affected and what specific information may have been involved. For now, the confirmed detail is that the breach was tied to Xsolis, not to Mayo Clinic itself.
