Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro’s Las Vegas Clash Exposes Tension After Miami Split

Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro reportedly had a physical altercation in Las Vegas, adding an unexpected flashpoint to the breakup of two former Miami Heat teammates. ESPN’s Shams Charania was told that Adebayo struck Herro in the head area during the confrontation.

The incident happened Friday morning at a practice court in a Las Vegas hotel. Sources said it began after Adebayo approached Herro about comments the guard made on social media, where Herro had criticized the center after their seven-year run together in Miami ended with Herro’s trade to Milwaukee.

Herro was later seen courtside at the Thomas & Mack Center for Friday’s summer league game between the Heat and Bucks. He was also interviewed during the Prime broadcast during the game before news of the altercation became public.

During that interview, Herro said, “It’s all love in Miami,” and added that both sides were “super happy” with the move, framing the trade as a chance for a fresh start.

Herro did not address the incident when he left the building, though he dapped up Bucks summer league players and spoke with Jaime Jaquez Jr. on the court. The Heat and Bucks both declined to comment, while Bucks coach Taylor Jenkins said he did not know all the specifics.

The social media context behind the dispute

After Herro was traded to Milwaukee, screenshots circulated online of an Instagram direct message with a fan in which Herro appeared to question Adebayo’s defensive effort. The alleged comments said that Adebayo’s nightly defense was not worthy of someone making $60 million.

Adebayo signed a three-year, $166 million extension with Miami in June 2024. He is a three-time All-Star and was named to the All-Defensive first team in 2023-24, while also earning five All-Defensive second-team selections, including last season.

Herro, a former Sixth Man of the Year, averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 33 games in 2025-26 after returning from left ankle surgery. He was named an All-Star in the 2024-25 season, when he averaged 23.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds in 77 games.

Adebayo averaged 20.1 points, 10 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals last season, and he also scored a franchise-record 83 points against the Washington Wizards in March. That total moved him past Kobe Bryant’s 81 for the second-most points in a game in NBA history.
