The mother of music producer Benny Blanco, who is also singer Selena Gomez’s mother-in-law, was unharmed after burglars broke into her Studio City home. The incident occurred on Monday night while she was alone inside the two-story house.
The intruders forced entry by smashing a sliding glass door and entered the residence. Upon hearing the break-in, she barricaded herself in a bathroom and immediately called 911 for help.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived around 9:15 p.m., but the suspects had already fled the scene. The victim reported that the burglars kicked the bathroom door off its hinges during their intrusion.
Authorities stated that the suspects ransacked multiple rooms before escaping with some property. However, police did not disclose what specific items were stolen from the home.
Neighbors confirmed an increase in residential burglaries in the area, creating growing concerns about safety. Studio City resident Tim Knipe remarked, “Do I feel safe? Much less so than when we moved here.”
He added that compared to 27 years ago, when children could freely walk around, the neighborhood’s security environment has worsened. “We check our locks, make sure the alarm’s on. It’s a much different life,” Knipe said.
Police have not released descriptions of the three suspects involved, and the investigation remains active. Meanwhile, Blanco’s mother continues to recover from the traumatic event without physical injuries.
The burglary highlights ongoing security challenges facing Studio City residents, prompting many to reassess their home safety measures. Local law enforcement encourages residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
