Bronny James appeared in his third G League game of the season during the South Bay Lakers’ 124-113 defeat to the San Diego Clippers on Saturday night. He contributed 10 points, five rebounds, and one assist while shooting 4-of-7 inside the arc.
Despite missing all five three-point attempts, James connected on his only free throw of the game. The 21-year-old guard continues to split time between the NBA and G League as he develops through his second professional season.
In Los Angeles’ main roster, James has not secured a consistent role, averaging only 1.9 points and 1.7 assists in 10.2 minutes per game. His shooting splits there stand at 28.6 percent from the field, 25 percent from three-point range, and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line.
However, James has shown more promise in the G League. Across his first two appearances this year, he averaged 11 points and 8 assists per game. His field goal accuracy was better inside the arc, making 62.5 percent of his two-point shots before Saturday’s contest.
Still, his three-point shooting remains a struggle with South Bay, hitting just 23.1 percent from beyond the arc. This shooting inconsistency from deep highlights an area for improvement as he gains experience.
The South Bay Lakers will face the San Diego Clippers again on Sunday, with tip-off scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Continued game time in the G League could provide James with more opportunities to refine his game and work toward a larger NBA role.
