Kimora Lee Simmons Describes Herself as Surrogate Mom to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Children

Kimora Lee Simmons has openly described herself as a “surrogate mom” to the four children of Sean “Diddy” Combs and the late Kim Porter. On the recent episode of “Today with Jenna & Friends,” she revealed she has taken the role of guardian for Quincy Brown, King Combs, and twins D’Lila and Jessie Combs.

Simmons emphasized her close involvement despite some of them being adults, stating, “One of my friends who passed away, Kim Porter, I have all of her kids.” She highlighted, “I just got off the phone with them,” referring to the twins, showing ongoing communication and care.

After Porter’s death in 2018, Simmons committed publicly to supporting Porter’s children. She posted on Instagram then, “You will look after and guide us all.” She reassured fans that her guardianship is more than symbolic, as she remains actively engaged in their lives.

The children have complex family dynamics. Quincy Brown was born to Porter and her ex-husband Al B. Sure! but later adopted by Diddy during his relationship with Porter. Meanwhile, Diddy is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence after a conviction earlier in the year.

Kimora Lee Simmons also shares motherhood with her own five children. She has daughters Ming and Aoki with her first ex-husband Russell Simmons. With former partners Djimon Hounsou and Tim Leissner, she parented two sons. Additionally, she adopted a son named Gary in 2020.

She described her family network as a “village of women,” including godmoms, aunties, and friends assisting her in caregiving. “The kids are with me every day,” Simmons said, explaining the collective support system she has established.

Simmons’ role expands beyond traditional parenting as she balances her public life and commitments. She recently showcased her experience as a single mom in the new E! series “Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane,” which premiered recently.
