
The No. 1 ranked UConn women’s basketball team will face No. 16 USC on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT. The game will take place at the Galen Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on FOX and the UConn Sports Network.
UConn enters the game undefeated with a 9-0 record after a dominant 102-32 victory over DePaul. Sophomore Sarah Strong led the Huskies with 20 points, supported by graduate student Azzi Fudd and sophomore Kayleigh Heckel, who each scored 16 points. UConn capitalized on bench depth, scoring 48 points from reserves and 52 points off turnovers.
Historically, UConn holds a 4-1 record against USC. Their most notable recent meeting was in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, where UConn, seeded No. 2, defeated the No. 1 seeded Trojans 78-64. This upcoming game marks UConn’s first visit to Southern California since 2003.
USC comes into the match with a 7-2 record, including a recent 59-50 win over No. 21 Washington. The Trojans benefit from the scoring leadership of Jazzy Davidson, who averages 16.7 points per game. USC has four players averaging double-digit points under the guidance of head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, now in her fifth season.
UConn is facing their third ranked opponent and third Big Ten team so far this season. This challenging schedule is part of the Huskies’ preparation for postseason competition.
