Harry Styles is making a significant contribution to support small music venues by donating £1 from every ticket sold for his upcoming 2026 UK stadium tour. This initiative will channel approximately £780,000 towards the LIVE Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving grassroots music venues across the UK.
The announcement came alongside the reveal of Styles’ Together Together tour, which features six nights at Wembley Stadium, with two additional dates added due to overwhelming demand. This move aligns with similar efforts by artists like Pulp, Ed Sheeran, and Katy Perry, who have also incorporated a grassroots levy into their ticket sales.
A recent report highlights that over half of grassroots venues are struggling financially, with many barely breaking even and facing the risk of closure. Since early 2023, more than 150 venues have permanently shut down, representing about 16% of the UK’s grassroots music scene.
Styles emphasized the importance of such venues, stating, “I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing today if it wasn’t for all the gigs I played around the North East, and beyond, when I was starting out.” He described these locations as “legendary” but currently under threat, underscoring the critical need for long-term support.
The Music Venue Trust praised Styles’ decision, noting that even a £1 donation per ticket can unlock substantial ongoing support when high-profile artists lead the way. The charity highlighted that last year, 8.8% of tickets for UK arena and stadium shows included a grassroots levy, signaling growing industry adoption.
Currently, the grassroots levy remains voluntary, but it has received encouragement from the UK government. Culture Minister Ian Murray expressed a goal for at least half of all stadium and arena show tickets in 2026 to incorporate the levy, aiming for broader sustainability in the live music sector.
Although funds raised have yet to be distributed, an initial allocation of these monies is expected soon, with announcements anticipated imminently. This marks a promising step toward securing the future of small venues essential for nurturing emerging talent.
Beyond his contribution to grassroots support, Styles’ tour is one of the most awaited music events this year, coinciding with the release of his fourth album, Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally. The tour spans seven cities worldwide, including a lengthy residency of 30 nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Ticket sales have seen intense demand, particularly in London, where presales caused long queues and frustration among fans. Pricing ranges from £44.10 to £466.25, including fees, with a handling fee per order. Ticketmaster confirmed prices will remain fixed during the sale period to avoid dynamic pricing issues.
Some fans have voiced concerns over the high price of premium seats, noting a significant increase compared to Styles’ previous Wembley shows in 2023. However, these prices reflect a broader trend of rising costs for large stadium concerts.
