The LSU women’s basketball team enters the SEC Tournament with a strong record of 26 wins in the regular season. They prepare to face seventh-ranked Oklahoma in the quarterfinal round this Friday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
The game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN with commentators Ryan Ruocco, Rebecca Lobo, and Holly Rowe. Fans can also tune in to the LSU Sports Radio Network, where Patrick Wright and Shaeeta Williams will provide live coverage.
This upcoming matchup marks the fourth meeting between LSU and Oklahoma in their series history, with the Tigers having won the most recent game 91-72 in Norman. Both teams split the previous encounters evenly, with Oklahoma winning the first game in December 2019 and LSU winning two subsequent games, including a 107-100 victory in the 2024 season.
LSU holds a historical record of 42-45 in the SEC Tournament since 1980 and has claimed the SEC title twice in program history, in 1991 and 2003. This year, the Tigers are seeded No. 4, maintaining a Top 4 seed for the fifth consecutive season under head coach Kim Mulkey.
Coach Mulkey, now in her 26th Division I coaching season, has a well-established postseason reputation, boasting 11 conference tournament titles, all won during her tenure at Baylor. LSU’s SEC Tournament record under her guidance stands at 4-4.
LSU guard MiLaysia Fulwiley was recently honored as the SEC Sixth Woman of the Year, becoming the third player in LSU history and the third SEC player to receive this award twice. Fulwiley ranks third in the SEC and 14th nationally with 93 steals this season.
Fulwiley’s defensive prowess has placed her third on LSU’s all-time single-season steals list. Senior Flau’jae Johnson and junior Mikaylah Williams earned spots on the All-SEC First Team, and freshman ZaKiyah Johnson was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team, highlighting the team’s balanced talent across all classes.
Flau’jae Johnson reached a major scoring milestone by surpassing 1,900 career points, joining an elite group of LSU players who have done the same. She is currently 21 points shy of entering the 2,000-point club, which includes LSU legends such as Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles. Johnson ranks 14th among active Division I players in total points scored.
LSU’s offensive statistics this season are remarkable, averaging 94.5 points per game over 30 contests. This scoring average leads the nation and is on pace to break the SEC single-season record set by Georgia in 1986 with an 89.2 average.
The Tigers also lead the country in several key statistical categories including bench points per game (39.1), rebound margin (18.0), and overall scoring offense. These numbers underscore LSU’s depth, dominance, and high-powered style of play heading into the tournament.
The SEC Tournament quarterfinal matchup between LSU and Oklahoma promises to be highly competitive. Both teams carry momentum from regular-season success and previous head-to-head battles. LSU’s mix of experienced leadership and emerging talent positions them as a formidable contender in this year’s postseason.
