Nikki Glaser said Leonardo DiCaprio surprised her with a thank-you gift after she joked about him in her Golden Globes monologue: three baskets of pasta. The comedian shared the detail during an appearance on “The Tonight Show,” tying the gift directly to one of the night’s most talked-about punchlines.
Glaser said the actor’s response stood out because she usually sends flowers to the people she roasts when they take the jokes in good spirit. “DiCaprio, though, was the only one who sent something back,” she said, adding that the pasta gift made the exchange unusually memorable.
The joke that led to the gift
At the Golden Globes, Glaser made a joke about DiCaprio’s dating history and his habit of being linked with younger women. She said it was impressive how much he had accomplished “before your girlfriend turned 30,” then followed with a line about not knowing much else about him.
She also brought up an old Teen Beat magazine interview in which DiCaprio reportedly named “pasta, pasta and more pasta” as his favorite food. Glaser used that detail in the monologue, and DiCaprio laughed and nodded as the joke landed.
Why the pasta gift mattered
The baskets of pasta were more than a playful callback to the monologue. They also showed that DiCaprio was willing to join in on the joke rather than brush it off after being targeted onstage.
Glaser joked that the gift briefly made her wonder about his intentions, but she also admitted the present fit the tone of the exchange. The moment added another layer to a monologue that already became one of the most memorable parts of her hosting turn.
Glaser’s awards-show approach
Glaser said she often sends flowers after hosting award shows, especially to the people she jokes about who handle it well. That made DiCaprio’s return gesture unusual, since he was the only one who responded with a gift of his own.
Her Golden Globes set also helped reinforce her reputation for sharp, fast-talking hosting. The ceremony was her second time leading the event, and she has already been confirmed to return as host again in 2027.
In March, Glaser said she was excited to come back and joked that the job mattered to her not just professionally, but also because it would keep family bragging rights in balance. The pasta from DiCaprio, meanwhile, gave her Golden Globes appearance one more headline-worthy detail.
