Samsung’s next premium smartwatch appears set to make battery anxiety a much smaller part of the conversation. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is rumored to move to a 784 mAh battery marketed as 800 mAh, a jump of 37% over the original Galaxy Watch Ultra’s 590 mAh cell.
That larger battery is expected to have a direct effect on daily use. In typical scenarios, the watch is said to last around 3.5 days, compared with 2.5 days on the previous model, and under normal usage it could even reach a full 4 days.
A bigger battery changes the routine
For smartwatch users, the most noticeable benefit is not just a larger number on a spec sheet. It is the possibility of wearing the watch for longer without turning nightly charging into a fixed habit.
That matters because premium smartwatches are increasingly expected to handle more than basic timekeeping. Health tracking, fitness logging, and everyday notifications all place constant demands on the battery, so extra capacity creates more room for uninterrupted use.
The rumored efficiency gains from a new chip may also help stretch that battery further. If that happens, the Ultra 2 would move closer to a watch that can support several days of activity rather than one that needs frequent attention from a charger.
Snapdragon enters the picture
Battery gains are only part of the story. Samsung is also said to be shifting the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 away from Exynos and to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite for the first time in the Galaxy Watch line.
That change is described as bringing a 48% performance jump. The expected result is faster response, smoother operation, and stronger GPU and NPU capabilities for graphics-heavy tasks and AI-based features.
The platform is also said to include a dedicated NPU for on-device AI with very low latency. In practical terms, that should support faster voice commands, health data logging, and activity tracking without adding extra friction to everyday use.
Connectivity choices vary by market
Samsung is also expected to widen the connectivity options for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The watch will reportedly come in both cellular and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi-only versions, although availability will depend on region.
In the United States and South Korea, only the cellular 5G model is said to be offered. In Europe and other markets, Samsung is reportedly preparing both cellular and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi variants, with the cellular model using 4G instead of 5G.
There is also one especially notable rumored feature: NB-NTN satellite support. That would allow SOS messages, emergency pings, and basic communication when the watch is outside cellular coverage.
Premium hardware stays in place
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is also said to keep the rugged, premium design language of its predecessor. Samsung is reportedly not bringing back a rotating bezel, since that element is now reserved as a distinguishing feature for the Classic line.
The display is rumored to be a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 480 x 480 resolution and around 453 PPI. It is also said to be protected by premium anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal and capable of reaching up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
For the body, the watch is said to use a 47 mm Grade 5 Titanium case. MIL-STD-810H, IP68, and 10 ATM water resistance are all listed, reinforcing its position as a watch built for demanding use.
Health sensors and software are also getting attention
On the memory side, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is said to include 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. That leaves more headroom for apps, data, and content on a premium wearable.
Samsung is also reportedly upgrading the BioActive sensor package. The rumored set includes ECG, blood pressure, heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature, and an improved Antioxidant Index tracker.
A non-invasive glucose monitoring feature has also been mentioned, though it remains one of the more speculative parts of the leak. It is best treated as an ambitious target rather than a confirmed capability.
Software is said to be another major part of the package, with Wear OS 6 and One UI 8.5 Watch forming the foundation. Together, they are expected to support a cleaner, more efficient experience that aligns with Samsung’s broader ecosystem.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is reportedly set to launch alongside Samsung’s latest foldable phones at the Unpacked event on July 22, 2026. If the battery and efficiency claims hold up, the watch could make daily charging feel less like a requirement and more like an occasional task.
