Detachable Controllers Turn OneXPlayer 3 Into A 3-In-1 Handheld With OLED 144Hz Display

OneXPlayer 3 stands out in a crowded handheld PC market because it is built to do more than act like a portable game machine. With detachable controllers and support for a keyboard, the device can shift between handheld, tablet, and mini laptop use depending on the situation.

That flexibility gives OneXPlayer a different angle from many compact gaming devices that focus almost entirely on portability. Rather than treating small size as the only priority, the company is using OneXPlayer 3 to cover gaming, light desktop navigation, and other everyday tasks in one device.

A 3-in-1 design built around different use cases

The main selling point of OneXPlayer 3 is its three-mode design. When the controllers are attached, it works like a conventional handheld gaming device with physical controls on both sides of the screen.

Once the controllers are removed, the device becomes a tablet. Users can also connect a keyboard, turning it into a small laptop that is better suited for desktop-style control and light productivity.

This approach broadens the device’s target audience. It is meant for gamers who want a portable system, but it also appeals to users who want one machine that can adapt to several daily scenarios.

Premium display and Intel graphics

OneXPlayer 3 uses an 8.8-inch OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. That combination places it in a premium category, offering a larger screen area and smoother motion for supported games.

OLED technology is typically valued for richer colors and stronger contrast. The 144Hz refresh rate also gives the device room to deliver more responsive gameplay when frame rates are high enough.

For graphics, OneXPlayer 3 relies on Intel Arc G3 Extreme. That choice is one of the device’s key hardware highlights, since it brings a newer Intel graphics platform into the OneXPlayer lineup.

The device also includes an 85Wh battery. That capacity is notable for a handheld system and makes sense for a machine built around a large 144Hz display and high-performance ambitions.

Cooling and control features aimed at heavy use

Another notable detail is the use of liquid cooling. In a handheld PC, thermal management is always important because internal space is limited and performance can quickly raise temperatures.

OneXPlayer appears to be positioning this cooling setup as part of a premium package alongside the OLED screen and large battery. The goal is clear: keep performance stable during longer and more demanding gaming sessions.

The device also uses Hall-Effect joysticks. This type of input hardware is generally chosen for more precise control and for reducing mechanical wear, including the risk of stick drift.

A smaller model is also on the way

Alongside OneXPlayer 3, the company is preparing the OneXPlayer X2 Mini Pro. That model is aimed at users who want something smaller than OneXPlayer 3.

The X2 Mini Pro uses AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395. Even with its more compact size, the device still pays close attention to heat control through Frost Bay liquid cooling.

OneXPlayer says the X2 Mini Pro will appear on Indiegogo in mid-June 2026. Its campaign page is already open for interest registration and notifications when funding begins.

OneXPlayer 3 is also expected to arrive on Indiegogo soon. Together, the two devices show a clear split in strategy: one focuses on a large 3-in-1 format with Intel Arc G3 Extreme, while the other targets a smaller footprint with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and Frost Bay liquid cooling.
