Oppo Find X10 May Turn Selfies Into A Wider Canvas, With A 100MP Square Front Camera

Oppo’s Find X10 is drawing attention for a front camera idea that stands out even in the crowded flagship market. The latest leak points to a 100MP selfie camera with a square 1:1 sensor, a format that could make the phone unusually adaptable for both everyday calls and creator-focused content.

That reported direction is notable because the front camera would not be defined only by resolution. Oppo is said to be testing a custom Samsung-made sensor of around 1/2.5 inches, suggesting the company is aiming for a wider range of framing options rather than simply chasing a bigger number on the spec sheet.

A square sensor for more flexible framing

A 1:1 front sensor is unusual in a smartphone, where selfie cameras are generally tuned for a vertical orientation. With a square format, the phone can capture a broader field of view and leave more room for cropping later without cutting too much of the original frame.

That matters for video calls, group selfies, live streaming, and vertical content. It also reduces the need to keep rotating the phone or crop aggressively when switching between portrait and landscape use.

Why the 100MP figure matters

Oppo is not only exploring an uncommon sensor shape. The company is also reportedly pushing for a much higher resolution, which would give users more freedom when taking or processing images.

That approach makes the Find X10’s front camera different from the route Apple has taken with the iPhone 17 series’ Center Stage-style front camera system. Apple’s setup still uses a 24MP sensor, while Oppo’s leak suggests a 100MP solution paired with the flexibility of a square frame.

If that configuration reaches the final product, the selfie camera could become one of the defining features of the Find X10 line. Front cameras are now central to video calling and short-form content creation, not just quick self-portraits.

Chipset plans are also being linked to the series

The camera leak is not the only development surrounding the Find X10 family. The series is also said to be in preparation with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 chipset.

That chip is described as a forthcoming 2nm SoC and is reportedly expected to debut in the Find X10 family. Together with the high-resolution front camera, that would position the phone as an aggressive contender in the flagship segment.

Even so, the details remain at the testing stage. Nothing in the current chatter confirms that these components are locked for the final commercial version.

What the leak suggests for Oppo’s next flagship

The square 100MP selfie camera is drawing interest because it is still rare in smartphones, especially on the front side. If Oppo moves this concept into mass production, it could change how the phone handles selfies, video calls, and mixed-orientation content.

For now, the Find X10 is still defined by internal testing and supply-chain rumors. But the combination of an unconventional front sensor and a next-generation chipset is already enough to make the model one of the more closely watched flagship launches in Oppo’s pipeline.
