Upside-Down Forks, TCS, and 155cc VVA Push Yamaha MX King 2026 Into Sportbike Territory

Yamaha’s MX King 2026 is being positioned as more than a routine update to a super underbone. The model brings hardware and features that are rarely associated with its class, including upside-down front suspension, traction control, and Y-Connect connectivity.

That combination gives the MX King a more serious sport-oriented profile without abandoning its role as a daily machine. Yamaha still keeps the “The King of Street” identity in place, but the package now pushes the model closer to the feel and presentation of a sport bike.

A stronger focus on riding control

The most attention-grabbing change sits at the front, where Yamaha uses upside-down suspension, or USD. The fork is offered in gold or black depending on the variant, and it is described as a first for the class.

This setup is intended to improve high-speed stability and make the bike easier to handle during quick maneuvers. It also changes the visual character of the motorcycle, giving the front end a denser and more aggressive look.

155cc VVA remains the core

Under the bodywork, MX King 2026 still relies on a 155cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine with Variable Valve Actuation, or VVA. The engine output is stated at 17.9 HP at 9,500 rpm, keeping the model in an aggressive performance range for both everyday use and higher-speed riding.

Yamaha pairs the engine with Assist & Slipper Clutch. The system is designed to make the clutch pull lighter while also helping prevent the rear wheel from locking during extreme downshifts.

Traction Control System, or TCS, is another key addition. When the sensor detects rear-wheel slip, it reduces power delivery to help the motorcycle remain stable on wet roads or while cornering.

Modern equipment inside and out

The styling direction is sharper and more aerodynamic than before. The bodywork uses more defined lines, while the overall shape still preserves the familiar super underbone identity.

The instrument panel now uses a full digital LCD display. With Y-Connect support, owners can check motor condition, parking location, and message notifications through a smartphone.

Lighting also receives an update. The front uses LED projector lighting, which Yamaha says provides more focused illumination and improved performance in fog, while the rear design takes inspiration from Yamaha R-Series models.

Pricing and variants

Despite the added equipment, Yamaha is said to have kept production costs under control so the price remains competitive in the Rp20 million range. The MX King 155 VVA is available in several variants with different pricing.

VariantPrice
MX King 155 VVA Standard Cyan, Red, BlackRp26.850.000
MX King 155 VVA Special Edition Racing Blue (USD Gold)Rp27.900.000
MX King 155 VVA Monster Energy Livery MotoGPRp28.500.000

The result is a super underbone that now carries a more premium image than before. With the 155cc VVA engine, TCS, Assist & Slipper Clutch, USD suspension, and connected features, MX King 2026 moves the segment toward a stronger mix of performance, control, and modern equipment.
