Google Turns Search Profiles Into A Social-Like Feed For Following Creators Directly

Google is giving Search and Discover a more social feel by letting users follow creators and publishers through a new profile system. The change centers on Search profiles, a dedicated page that gathers the latest articles, videos, and social posts from selected sources in one place.

The feature is designed to make it easier to keep up with favorite voices without jumping across multiple pages or apps. Instead of treating creators and publications as single search results, Google is building a more recognizable identity space around them inside Search and Discover.

A profile hub for recent updates

Search profiles work as a central location for fresh content from a creator or publisher. Users can check recent articles, the latest videos, and social posts from the same source through one profile page.

That approach makes the experience feel closer to following an account on a social platform. It also reduces the need to search separately for each update from the same creator or media outlet.

How users can access it

Google says these profiles can be opened in several ways. Users may tap a publisher or creator’s name in Discover on the Google app home page, open the profile from a knowledge panel in Search, or visit it directly through the profile URL.

The Search connection is also important for how the feature fits into Google’s wider information system. When a profile is created, it can trigger a knowledge panel, which is the information box that often appears in search results for people, places, or organizations.

If a knowledge panel already exists, Google will update it. Those updates can include a newer avatar, recent content, and a direct link to the profile.

Built to be shared and customized

Google describes Search profiles as a shareable space that helps audiences find content more easily. For creators and publishers, the profile becomes another place to establish a presence in Search beyond a standard link or isolated result.

The profiles are also customizable. Owners can add an avatar, a bio, and links to their website, social accounts, video platforms, and other important content.

That setup gives Google a way to combine different content formats on a single page. It also helps create a more consistent identity for creators and publications across Search and Discover.

Mobile-first rollout with limits

There is an early limitation to the launch. Search profiles are only visible on mobile devices at this stage.

Google is also not opening the feature to everyone right away. In the initial rollout, the profiles are available only to publications and creators with large followings on at least one major social or video platform.

That requirement suggests Google is starting with accounts that already have an established audience and steady content flow. It also means the first wave of profiles will likely belong to names users already recognize.

Starting in the United States

The rollout begins in the United States. Google says it plans to expand Search profiles to more publications and creators in more countries later, though it has not shared a detailed timeline.

For users, the new setup makes it easier to follow updates from favorite sources in one place. For creators and media outlets, it opens another path to show their work inside Google’s own search and discovery surfaces.
