Acebeam UC3A Packs A Side Light Surprise Into A Pocket-Size Body

Acebeam UC3A stands out by combining a compact everyday carry form with a side light that adds far more utility than its size suggests. At just 65 grams, it is light enough to disappear in a pocket, yet it still keeps a replaceable battery design for users who want flexibility on the move.

The battery approach is unusual. Acebeam uses a lithium-ion cell in AAA format, specifically a 10440 cylinder with an integrated USB-C port inside the battery body.

That setup brings a clear trade-off. Charging has to happen after the cell is removed from the flashlight, but carrying a spare is simple, and the battery can be swapped quickly when needed.

The UC3A also accepts a standard AAA primary battery, although that option was not tested. Its battery capacity is modest at 1.5 watt-hours, and that limitation becomes obvious when a less-charged unit appears noticeably dimmer during use.

Simple controls, but more lighting choices than expected

Operation is handled by two buttons, and the layout is easy to understand. The main front light button turns on the flashlight in medium mode with a single press, while a long press at startup activates moonlight.

Holding the same button cycles through three levels, although moonlight is excluded from that cycle. The side-light button opens up a broader set of options, including two white brightness levels and red, green, and blue colors selected through a double-click after the light is on.

Each color also includes a flashing mode. In addition, the UC3A offers a police-style flashing pattern that alternates red and blue, plus a rainbow animation for a more decorative effect.

Useful beyond flashlight duty

The side light can act as a warning lamp or marker when clipped to a backpack, belt, or hat. In white mode, it also works as a small ambient light source for close-range use.

A strong magnetic tail adds another layer of practicality. It makes the UC3A suitable for attachment to metal surfaces, which also helps in DIY work inside a PC case when a compact self-standing light is useful.

For everyday use, Acebeam does not position the UC3A as a high-output thrower. Even so, its front light and side light are considered sufficient for routine tasks, especially through the two white brightness levels that suit dim conditions and spaces with some ambient light.

Strong features, with one clear weak point

The most obvious weakness is the blue color on the side light, which is described as somewhat muddy and leaning toward purple. That makes it less convincing than the other color options.

By contrast, the rainbow effect looks appealing because it is supported by a relatively large number of LEDs. Red and green are also regarded as meeting expectations, although there is no single yellow light mode.

Overall, the UC3A delivers a wide feature set in a very compact package. Acebeam is selling the flashlight on Amazon for $40, with orange, black, and green color options, and the company has also shared promo code 4TBZINQJ for a checkout discount.

The duration of that code is not specified, and it is not confirmed whether it applies to every Amazon customer.
