Retroid Pocket 6 Returns With 12GB RAM, But The Storage Cut Is Hard To Miss

Retroid has brought back a 12GB RAM version of the Pocket 6, but the revived model arrives with a clear compromise. The new configuration keeps the same memory capacity as before, yet it cuts storage in half and trims the available color and control-layout options.

The return of this variant matters because Retroid had previously discontinued the 12GB model after deciding that the combined cost of RAM and storage was too high. Instead of dropping the high-memory option entirely, the company has now reworked it into a leaner package.

What changed in the revived model

The new Pocket 6 pairing includes 12GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. That is a noticeable reduction from the earlier 12GB version, which offered 256GB of storage before it was removed from the lineup.

For buyers who care most about multitasking and memory headroom, the 12GB figure still keeps this model in a strong position. However, anyone expecting the same storage flexibility as the original version will find the updated configuration more limited.

Fewer colors and one control layout

Retroid has also narrowed the design choices. The 12GB RAM + 128GB model is available only in Silver, 16Bit, and Black.

Orange and Light Purple are not offered on this version, and the control layout is limited to the asymmetrical Stick Top arrangement. Users who want the symmetrical or D-pad Top layout will need to move to the 8GB RAM model instead.

The price has not moved

Even with the smaller storage package, Retroid is keeping the price at $279. That matches the cost of the discontinued 12GB RAM + 256GB version, making the update a specification shift rather than a pricing adjustment.

This approach leaves Retroid with a simpler high-RAM option that may be easier to produce while still preserving the same entry point for buyers. It also means customers are now choosing between a more restrained 12GB configuration and the broader set of options available on the 8GB version.

Available now through the official store

Retroid says the device is already in stock and ready to ship, which sets it apart from several other handheld launches that require pre-orders. That should make the buying process more immediate for anyone interested in the Pocket 6.

For now, availability remains tied to Retroid’s official store, so access is still limited to the company’s own sales channel. The revised model therefore lands as a more focused offering: the same RAM, less storage, fewer finishes, and a narrower set of control options.
