Samsung’s New Foldables Line Up Side by Side, Fold 8 Ultra Looks the Most Tempting

A newly surfaced leak offers the clearest look yet at Samsung’s next foldable lineup, and the biggest takeaway is not subtle. The three devices appear to be moving in noticeably different directions, with Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra each aiming at a distinct buyer profile.

The image, shared by leaker Ice Digital on Weibo, shows what are believed to be the outer cover screens of the unreleased phones. That makes the comparison especially useful, because the front display on a folded device often reveals more about the product’s character than a spec sheet alone.

Three foldables, three different priorities

From the leaked layout, Galaxy Z Flip 8 remains the most compact option and keeps the familiar clamshell approach that defines the Flip line. Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, by contrast, lean into a wider book-style format that appears aimed at users who want a larger outer display.

That difference matters because the cover screen is often the part people use most when the phone stays closed. If Samsung is indeed widening the Fold’s outer display, the experience could feel closer to a regular smartphone without needing to unfold the device every time.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 also appears to introduce a small but visible design change around the camera area. Instead of two separate camera cutouts, the leak suggests a single wider opening for the camera module, while the flash remains separate.

The change is modest, but it could alter the visual identity of the Flip series in a meaningful way. Samsung has long used the rear layout and outer display area as a signature design element for its clamshell foldables.

Where the Fold models seem to split

The two Fold models point to a more deliberate hierarchy. Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to focus on a lighter body, which would be a practical advantage given how weight has often been one of the main compromises in book-style foldables.

Camera hardware also appears to be a key divider. Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumored to carry a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera, while Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to step up with a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may also retain a 10MP 3x telephoto camera similar to the one seen on Galaxy Z Fold 7. If accurate, that would make the Ultra model’s biggest advantage much clearer: it would be positioned as the more camera-focused and more premium option in the lineup.

A launch window is starting to take shape

Samsung is expected to unveil the next generation of foldables next month, with Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra emerging as the most likely trio. The devices are said to debut at an event on 22 July in London.

Until Samsung confirms the details itself, the information remains unverified. Still, the side-by-side leak gives a more concrete picture of the company’s foldable strategy than isolated rumors usually do, especially for buyers trying to judge whether the next Flip, Fold, or Ultra is the one worth waiting for.
