Google Pixel owners affected by a serious bootloop problem after a software update now have a repair option that may actually help. The fix is not simple, and it requires access to a computer, but it gives users a practical path after weeks of devices repeatedly restarting.
The issue is among the most disruptive kinds of software failure. A phone may power on, show the startup logo, and then shut down again before repeating the same cycle without ever reaching the home screen.
On Pixel devices, that often means the Google “G” appears and then the phone fails to move forward. Some users have also reported that the device briefly reaches the home screen before restarting again.
Google’s repair utility is getting attention
Amid official guidance to contact Google Support, the company’s Pixel Update and Software Repair tool has become a key point of interest. According to reports, at least one user used it successfully to perform a full software reset on the device.
The tool is designed to restore the phone’s software from scratch. Because of that, it is more involved than a standard troubleshooting step and must be run from a computer.
Results, however, have not been consistent. User discussions suggest the tool worked in some cases, while other devices remained stuck in the same bootloop state.
Other attempts, but with clear limits
A separate workaround has also circulated within the user community. One Pixel owner claimed to identify a possible cause after testing the issue on their own.
That method involves setting the device clock several years into the future, which is said to force the phone to delete a corrupted file that triggers the bootloop. After that, the device is reportedly able to reset and load the correct file.
The problem is access. That approach only makes sense if the user can still reach the phone’s settings, which is unlikely in many bootloop cases.
For that reason, the time-change workaround appears to be a narrow option rather than a broadly usable fix. For devices that cannot even enter the system long enough to open settings, it offers little practical value.

Even with these emerging options, Google Support remains the most reliable path for many affected users. Google has directed impacted owners to seek individual help through support channels.
That approach matters because the problem does not appear to affect every device in the same way. Some phones can reach the home screen briefly, while others never get past the startup logo at all.
This uneven behavior makes self-repair difficult. Even when a software recovery tool is available, not every user has the spare device, time, or technical setup needed to complete the process smoothly.
A serious problem in the middle of a broader bug streak
