Redmi Turbo 5 arrives with a clear message: this is a performance-focused phone that does not hide its ambition. Xiaomi has placed it just below its flagship lineup, pairing a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset with a design that includes rear RGB lighting for a more gaming-oriented look.
The move also reflects Xiaomi’s shift in India, where the company has chosen not to revive the K series. Instead, the Turbo line is being positioned as a new option for users who want strong performance, modern features, and a more expressive design without paying full premium pricing.
Pricing and launch details
The Redmi Turbo 5 starts at Rs 37,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant. The 12GB/256GB version is priced at Rs 40,999.
Sales in India begin on June 19 at 12 pm. Xiaomi is also offering bank discounts of up to Rs 2,000, a 60 percent assured buyback program after one year, and three months of Spotify Premium as part of the launch package.
Display and sound built for entertainment
On the front, the phone uses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel reaches a peak brightness of 3,500 nits and supports 68 billion colors, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 Plus.
The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos are included for a more immersive audio setup. Together, the display and sound hardware position the device as a strong option for gaming and media use.
Performance is the main draw
The handset runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi has also added a 5,300 mm² vapour chamber to help keep performance stable under heavier loads.
According to the company, the phone can handle more than 20 games at 120fps. That claim reinforces the Turbo 5’s identity as a device made for demanding users and mobile gamers.
Design, durability, and RGB appeal
The back panel uses reinforced flat glass, and the rear camera area includes two circular cutouts with a pair of RGB lights. Those lights can be used for notifications or incoming calls, and they can also sync with music.
The frame is flat and made of aluminum, while the body measures 8.18mm thick. For protection, the Redmi Turbo 5 carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, giving it a strong defense against dust and water.
Cameras, battery, and charging
Photography is led by a 50MP main camera using the Sony IMX882 sensor with optical image stabilization. The rear setup also includes an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the front carries a 20MP selfie camera.
The main sensor can record video at up to 4K 60fps, giving the device a capable video spec for its class. Power comes from a large 7,540mAh battery, which is remarkable given the phone’s relatively slim 8.18mm profile.
Charging support includes 100W wired fast charging and 27W reverse charging. That combination makes the phone more practical for users who need long battery life and quick top-ups in daily use.
Software support and ecosystem features
Redmi Turbo 5 ships with Android 16 based on HyperOS 3. Xiaomi says the device will receive four years of OS upgrades and six years of security patches.
The phone also includes HyperConnect support for compatibility with Apple devices. With that software strategy, Xiaomi is extending the Turbo line beyond raw performance and into longer-term usability.
As a whole, Redmi Turbo 5 stands out by combining a large battery, fast charging, a bright AMOLED panel, RGB lighting, and a high-end Dimensity chip in a package aimed squarely at performance-minded buyers.
