Huawei MatePad Mini Brings a PaperMatte OLED Screen to a Tiny Body

Huawei is preparing to bring a compact tablet option to Indonesia with the HUAWEI MatePad Mini, a device built around portability, display innovation, and everyday productivity. The company positions it as a “Mini but Mighty” tablet for users who want something easy to carry without giving up practical functions.

At 260 grams and just 5.2 mm thick, the tablet is designed to be comfortable in one hand and simple to slip into a small bag. Huawei also says its compact size makes it suitable for larger jacket or pants pockets, reinforcing its focus on mobility.

A display made to stand out

The most distinctive feature of the HUAWEI MatePad Mini is its 8.8-inch Flexible OLED PaperMatte Display. Huawei says this is the first of its kind in the tablet mini category, giving the device a clear point of difference in a crowded market.

The screen uses ultra-thin 2.9 mm bezels and reaches a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio, which helps the display feel larger and more immersive. Huawei also highlights anti-glare, anti-reflection, and anti-sparkle features, all intended to make reading and writing feel closer to using paper.

Brightness can reach up to 1,800 nits, helping the display remain visible in bright rooms or under direct sunlight. That level of brightness, combined with the PaperMatte treatment, gives the tablet a clear appeal for readers and note-takers who spend long hours on screen.

Built for work, study, and creativity

Huawei is also pairing the MatePad Mini with familiar productivity and creative tools. HUAWEI Notes is included for digital note-taking, while GoPaint is aimed at users who want to sketch or develop ideas more freely.

WPS Office adds support for creating, editing, and opening documents directly on the tablet. Together, these apps make the device more than a simple media player and place it closer to a compact productivity companion.

Big battery, slim frame

Despite its thin body, the MatePad Mini comes with a 6,400 mAh battery. The capacity is meant to support a full day of use, including online meetings, document reading, social media, and video streaming.

Huawei also includes fast charging support to shorten the time needed to refill the battery. For users who move often, that combination is designed to reduce dependence on power outlets during the day.

For the Indonesian market, the HUAWEI MatePad Mini will be available in Spruce Green. The color choice gives the tablet a modern and premium look to match its lightweight body and PaperMatte display.
