Huawei MatePad Mini Brings PaperMatte Display and Big Battery to a Tiny Frame

Huawei has launched the HUAWEI MatePad Mini in Indonesia, positioning it as a premium compact tablet built for people who move between work, study, and travel. Priced at Rp8.999.000, the device leans on portability, but its main appeal comes from features usually associated with larger tablets.

The company frames the model around a “Mini but Mighty” idea, aiming to give users a device that is easy to carry yet still practical for document work, note-taking, and creative tasks. At a time when many people split their day across cafés, offices, and transit hubs, that combination is likely to matter more than size alone.

A compact body that still feels usable

The MatePad Mini weighs about 260 grams and measures just 5.2 mm thick, making it one of the more travel-friendly tablets in Huawei’s lineup. It is designed to fit into smaller bags and remain comfortable in hand during frequent movement.

Even with that small footprint, the tablet carries an 8.8-inch display that offers more room than a smartphone for reading, editing, and multitasking. Huawei also says the screen-to-body ratio reaches 92 percent, which helps the panel feel more expansive than the body suggests.

PaperMatte display is the headline feature

The clearest differentiator is the Flexible OLED PaperMatte Display, which is meant to deliver a paper-like writing feel while keeping visuals easy on the eyes. Huawei pairs it with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,800 nits of brightness, and a 343 PPI pixel density.

To support outdoor and indoor use, the display also includes anti-glare, anti-reflection, and anti-sparkle protection. That combination is aimed at reducing light interference when users are reading documents or viewing content in bright environments.

Built for notes, documents, and sketching

For productivity, the MatePad Mini supports WPS Office 3.0, allowing users to open, review, edit, sign, and manage documents and PDF files more easily. The tablet is also paired with tools that make it suitable for more focused mobile work.

HUAWEI Notes adds AI Handwriting Enhancement, AI Equation Recognition and Calculation, Note Replay, split-screen support, and a floating window feature. Those additions make the tablet more useful for students and professionals who rely on handwritten input and quick reference materials.

Creative users get access to GoPaint, which includes Intelligent Color Card, Animation Frame, Rotation Brushes, and Batik Canvas and Brushes. Together, those tools give the mini tablet a broader role than simple media consumption.

Accessory support and battery life

Huawei bundles support for the HUAWEI M-Pencil 3rd Gen and a Leather Case, making the device more practical for writing, annotating, and drawing. The stylus should also help the tablet feel closer to a digital notebook than a conventional small tablet.

To keep the device usable through a busy day, Huawei includes a 6,400mAh battery with fast charging support. That capacity is intended to help the MatePad Mini stay ready for long commutes, meetings, and study sessions.

Price and launch bonus

The HUAWEI MatePad Mini is available in Indonesia in Spruce Green for Rp8.999.000. During the promotion period from 24 June to 24 July 2026, buyers can also receive bonuses with a combined value of up to Rp4.5 million.

The promotional package includes the HUAWEI M-Pencil 3rd Gen, a MatePad Mini Folio Cover, one battery replacement service within three years, up to two PaperMatte screen repairs in one year, and access to iQIYI VIP and Noice Premium for a limited period. With that package, Huawei is clearly aiming at users who want something more capable than a smartphone, but far easier to carry than a laptop.
