Vivo X Fold 6 Packs a 7,000mAh Battery, and Its Camera Setup Gets Unusually Ambitious

Vivo has taken a different route in the foldable race with the X Fold 6. Instead of chasing only thinner hardware, the company has added a 7,000mAh battery and support for an external telephoto lens, two features that immediately separate it from many rivals.

The move matters because foldable phones often force buyers to compromise on battery life or camera flexibility. Vivo says the X Fold 6 will also receive a global launch, although it has not shared the schedule yet.

Battery capacity that stands out in the foldable category

At 7,000mAh, the X Fold 6 carries one of the largest batteries currently seen in a foldable device. In the context cited by Vivo, only the HONOR Magic V6 is larger, and that 7,150mAh pack is limited to the 1TB model in China.

The phone also supports wireless charging, but Vivo has not disclosed the charging speed. That leaves one of the most practical questions about the device still unanswered.

A camera system built for more than the usual foldable basics

The X Fold 6 also pushes harder on imaging. Its main camera uses a 200MP Isocell HPB sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size and an f/1.68 aperture, which gives the foldable a flagship-level lead sensor on paper.

Alongside it are a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP 3x telephoto camera based on the LYT-602 sensor. Vivo says that telephoto sensor is larger than the tele cameras used in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Find N6, and Magic V6.

For the first time on a Vivo foldable, the phone also supports an external camera lens. It works with Vivo’s second-generation 200mm telephoto extender, mounted to the 50MP 3x camera.

With that accessory attached, users can capture native photos and video at around 8.3x zoom. Vivo also says lossless-resolution results can reach about 17x.

The phone does not support Vivo’s 400mm telephoto extender. That accessory is known to be too large and heavy for this model, so it stays out of the X Fold 6 package.

Premium video tools and a more flexible foldable workflow

Beyond still photography, Vivo has added Dolby Vision 4K 60fps video recording, multiple film styles, an AI camera coach, and color palette adjustments previously seen on the X300 Ultra. Those additions make the X Fold 6 feel more like a serious creator device than a standard foldable.

On the productivity side, Vivo has updated Origin Workbench. The earlier version on the X Fold 5 allowed five apps to run in separate windows, with one large window and four smaller ones.

The X Fold 6 expands the split-view layout options and lets users save those setups for quick reopening with a single tap. Vivo has also added an AI-powered file manager with smart file naming and meeting file recommendations.

Display, durability, and hardware details

The design is slightly rounder than the X Fold 5, but Vivo has kept the IP58/59 durability rating. That still trails the Pixel 10 Pro Fold with IP68 and HONOR Magic V6 with IP69, while remaining ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s IP48 rating.

Inside, the X Fold 6 uses an 8.02-inch OLED foldable display with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits and Samsung M14 technology. Vivo has not said whether the panel uses the same “zero-feel crease” approach found on the OPPO Find N6.

The hinge is rated for 600,000 folds, and the cover display uses upgraded nanocrystal glass protection. Together, those details suggest Vivo is trying to balance a larger battery and stronger camera hardware with practical durability.

Dimensity 9500 Super Edition and pricing

Performance comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a custom chip Vivo says is tuned for large foldables. The company claims it improves multitasking and multi-window rendering, which aligns with the phone’s productivity focus.

Vivo is selling the X Fold 6 in multiple versions. Prices start at 7,999 yuan for the 12GB/256GB model and go up to 10,999 yuan for the 16GB/1TB version.

A Black Gold variant is also available, but only in the 16GB/1TB configuration. That edition is priced at 11,299 yuan, while the other color options include Blue Hole, Salt Lake, and Polar Night.

With battery life, imaging flexibility, and a more deliberate approach to foldable usability, the X Fold 6 is shaping up as one of Vivo’s most distinctive entries in the category. Its planned global release will be the next key step for buyers outside the initial market.
