Casio’s EFK-200 Reaches Japan, But The Price Jump Feels Hard To Ignore

Casio has taken the Edifice EFK-200 Automatic line beyond China, with preorder now open in Japan. The move gives the mechanical series a second confirmed market, but it also reveals a noticeably higher price level for Japanese buyers.

At the top of the lineup sits the EFK-200XPB-1AJF Toyota Racing model at ¥74,800. Casio positions it as the most distinctive version in the group, thanks to its forged carbon fiber case and dial, rose gold indexes, and rubber strap.

Five models, one mechanical platform

The Japan preorder range mirrors the China release in core design and hardware, while using Japan-specific JF reference codes. Four of the five models share the same underlying approach, with the differences concentrated in color, bracelet material, and finishing.

The three steel bracelet variants are priced identically at ¥55,000 each. That group covers the black EFK-200CD-1AJF, the blue EFK-200D-2AJF, and the red EFK-200D-4AJF.

The EFK-200DG-5AJF sits above those entry versions at ¥66,000. It adds a gold-toned appearance without moving into the Toyota Racing model’s more specialized materials and styling.

Specifications remain unchanged

Casio has not changed the technical package across the five models. All of them use the Miyota 8215 movement, which Casio identifies as Module 5766, with 42 hours of power reserve, 21 jewels, and an accuracy rating of -20/+40 seconds per day.

The watches also keep sapphire crystal on the front and a mineral crystal display caseback on the rear. Their case size remains 43.6 x 38 x 11.9 mm, keeping the lineup consistent despite the different exterior treatments.

Higher than China, but not unexpected

Pricing in Japan stands above the China launch, where the steel EFK-200D-1A and D-2A started at 2,490 CNY, or about $366. That comparison makes the Japan preorder look more premium, even though the base product formula is the same.

For buyers tracking regional launches, the gap underlines how much local pricing can vary across markets. Casio has not announced any broader rollout beyond Japan and China, so these preorder listings remain the clearest sign yet of where the line is heading next.

Preorders are currently limited to Casio’s official Japan online store. The watches are not yet in general retail sales, which means this launch is still in its early stage despite the added market expansion.
