Xiaomi Ends Software Support for Several Old Phones, Xiaomi 12 Users Should Prepare

Xiaomi has expanded its list of devices that have reached end of life, ending software support for several popular Xiaomi, Poco, and Redmi models. The change means these phones and tablets will no longer receive Android or HyperOS upgrades, new features, bug fixes, or security patches.

The impact is especially notable for owners of the Xiaomi 12 series and Poco X5 models. The devices will still work normally, but Xiaomi is no longer expected to close newly discovered security gaps or deliver further performance improvements.

Which models are affected

The latest additions include the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12S Ultra for China. Xiaomi has also placed the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, both for China, into its final software support list.

On the Poco side, support has ended for the regional Poco X5 5G variant for Turkey and the POCO X5 Pro 5G for Indonesia. For Redmi, the affected devices include the Redmi Note 12T Pro for China, the Redmi K60E for China, and the Redmi 10 5G for EEA.

What end of life means for users

Once a device enters the EOL list, owners stop getting system updates and security updates. In practical terms, the phone or tablet can still be used as usual, but long-term risk rises because newly found vulnerabilities will not be patched.

Some of the devices on the list had already stopped receiving major OS upgrades under Xiaomi’s promised update policy. For users who still rely on them every day, the lack of continued software support may be a reason to consider upgrading to a newer model.

Why the Xiaomi 12 lineup stands out

The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are drawing particular attention because the support cutoff also covers global and regional variants. That means the change is not limited to a single market and affects users across several regions.

Xiaomi says the full status of each device can be checked through its official End of Life page. That page remains the main reference for determining whether a phone or tablet is still under active support or has already been officially retired.

For owners of older Xiaomi, Poco, and Redmi devices, the update list is now the clearest sign that the software lifecycle is closing. Devices may still function, but their protection window is ending with no further guarantees of software maintenance.
